Gas main installation continues along Center Avenue, between 3rd Street NE and 1st Street SW. Street parking is restricted in active work zones.
We expect two more weeks of construction on the gas main in the road. At that point, a service crew will begin connecting service lines to the new main and moving indoor gas meters outside.
Construction continues in Madelia, with crews working to install sections of modern gas main. This week, work can be seen between 1st Street Southeast and County Road 58, or Highway 60 Southeast. Work is headed north towards East Main Street.
The parking lane and sidewalk on the south side of 1st Street Southwest between Center Avenue South and Benzel Avenue Southwest will be closed while work takes place. The parking lane and sidewalk on the west side of Center Avenue South between 1st Street Southwest and East Main Street will be closed as work moves to that area.
We expect main and service line work associated with this project to take several more weeks.
For a few months beginning as early as April 21, 2025, CenterPoint Energy will replace natural gas infrastructure in Madelia. Updates regarding the utility crew's location, traffic impacts and other details will be posted here regularly.
