Contractor summary

CenterPoint works with multiple contractors to complete construction projects in a safe and timely manner. You will see these contractors working in your area and may be contacted by them at various stages in the construction process. Employees of authorized contractors will have CenterPoint Energy identification cards. You are encouraged to ask to see identification before allowing technicians inside your home.

Natural gas main work

Sections of small diameter steel gas main will be installed across a few blocks at a time. These sections will be fused together and will be directionally drilled during installation.

Noise, vibration and dust are expected impacts of gas main installation.

Service line and meter work

Once the new gas main is installed, we will transfer the service lines and gas meters that supply your home’s energy from the old main to the newly installed main.

Restoration

The final step in an infrastructure project is to restore all impacted areas. Restoration is typically onsite a few weeks after the completion of all other construction. Until then, temporary restoration is done by the utility crews to maintain an area's livability.

Traffic impacts

No roads are anticipated to be closed as a part of this project. Resident’s access to their homes will be maintained throughout construction.
