What is the crews’ progress?

A crew from NPL, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, is finishing the project’s natural gas work this week. They have installed all the project’s natural gas mains and service lines and have moved inside meters outside. Residents should see backfill in the excavated areas; backfill includes gravel or temporary asphalt on hard surfaces and dirt on boulevards and lawns. This is temporary before the restoration crew comes.

What should I expect for restoration?

A crew from Q3 Contracting, another CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, will follow this month or in July to restore the areas affected by the natural gas work. Hard surfaces will be restored to their original condition. On boulevards and lawns, the crew will refill the areas with black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. We encourage residents to water these areas. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the blanket. Wait at least 14 days or until the new grass is at least 3" tall before mowing.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we replaced our infrastructure. We wish you a great season!

A crew from NPL, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, anticipates finishing the project’s natural gas work in early June. This work includes moving inside meters outside by appointment and replacing and/or reconnecting the service lines to the new mains.

This week, they plan to finish the service line and meter work on Comstock Lane N. and 30th Avenue N. They began the service line and meter work on Black Oaks Lane N. and will continue to work south on all the project’s remaining streets, including 29th Avenue N., 28th Avenue N., 27th Avenue N., 26th Avenue N., and Zanzibar Lane N.

The crew asks residents to keep the utility flags in their yards until the restoration work is done. Since the crews use these flags to locate existing underground utility lines such as cable, internet, water, and sewer, it is imperative for their gas line replacements. If flags are removed, the crews can call Gopher State One Call for new flags.

Restoration work will be done by Q3 Contracting, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, on areas affected by NPL’s work. This will include restoring the hard surfaces such as concrete and asphalt to their original condition and soft surfaces such as yards and boulevards with black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months.

We thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience as we’re upgrading our infrastructure. There will be no work on Friday, May 24 or Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day weekend. We wish you a great season!

A crew from NPL, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, has put all the footage of the project’s natural gas mains in the ground, and they are activated with natural gas. NPL has begun the other portion of the project’s natural gas infrastructure work: moving inside meters outside by appointment and replacing and/or reconnecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains.

The crew has been working on Comstock Lane N. from 30th Avenue N. to 26th Avenue N. and is beginning to work on Black Oaks Lane N. from 30th Avenue N. to 29th Avenue N.

Further work is being done by MJ Electric for Xcel Energy and by Universal Services JDR Tech for Comcast. All utilities are working prior to the City of Plymouth’s 2024 Street Rehabilitation Project. The city’s website stated, “The city’s contractor for this project, Northwest Asphalt, is hoping to begin as soon as the private utility work is completed. While the contractor’s exact start day is still unknown, they will likely begin in late May or June.”

A crew from NPL, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, plans to finish replacing the final of the project’s natural gas mains in the week of May 6. This will include connecting the newly installed mains to the existing intersecting mains. Although they had planned to finish the main replacements in April, the replacements took longer than expected.

In the month of May, NPL plans to move inside meters outside by appointment and replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new mains.

Q3 Contracting, another CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, plans to begin restoring the areas affected by NPL’s work a few weeks after the natural gas work is done. They will restore the areas outside the limits of the City of Plymouth’s 2024 Street Rehabilitation Project.

We ask that residents should keep the utility flags in their yards until after Q3 Contracting’s work is done. The hard surfaces will be restored to their original condition. Boulevards and lawns will receive black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. We thank you for your patience.

This month, crews from NPL, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, plan to finish replacing a portion of the project’s natural gas work. By May 1, they plan to replace the project’s remaining footage of natural gas mains on the following streets:

28th Avenue N. from Black Oaks Lane N. to Zanzibar Lane N.; 29th Avenue N. from Black Oaks Lane N. to Zanzibar Lane N.; and Zanzibar Lane N. from 29th Avenue N. to 26th Avenue N. at Dunkirk Lane N.

In late April or early May, the crews plan to begin moving inside meters outside by appointment and replacing and/or reconnecting the service lines to the new mains. (This is a correction from our previous update on April 12.)

As a reminder, when the crews finish their natural gas work in an area such as boulevard or lawn, they will backfill the excavations and place temporary straw netting for erosion control. Another contractor, Q3 Contracting, will come to put in black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. This final restoration may not take place immediately after the gas work is done. We appreciate your patience as there may be a few weeks before Q3 Contracting arrives.

On Monday, April 8, a crew from NPL will begin CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas line project in Plymouth. Their first task is replacing the project’s natural gas mains. They will start on 30th Avenue N. and work from Black Oaks Lane N. to Comstock Lane N. Afterward, they will replace the main on Comstock Lane N. from 30th Avenue N. to 26th Avenue N.

They anticipate finishing all the project’s natural gas work within the month of April. This includes replacing the rest of the project’s natural gas mains, moving inside meters outside by appointment, and replacing and/or reconnecting the service lines to the new mains. They anticipate beginning the meter and service line work in mid-April.

During this time, traffic impacts will be minimal. Drivers may see traffic signs on Dunkirk Lane N.

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

From early April into early summer 2024, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Plymouth along select streets between Dunkirk Lane N., Zanzibar Lane N., 26th Avenue N., and 30th Avenue N. Equix Integrity will update our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. NPL will replace natural gas mains, move inside meters to the outside of homes by appointment, and replace or reconnect service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by NPL’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
