Installation of the modern gas main is complete in Jordan. All buildings within the scope of this project have been connected to the new main. The old gas main will be taken out of use today, May 16.

CenterPoint is committed to reducing emissions, and uses cross compression technology to remove any existing natural gas from the old main before retiring it. This process will take place today in Jordan.

Construction has resumed in Jordan as of late May 2025. The crew is working on phase 2 of this project, and expects to complete work by the end of June.

Work began on Syndicate Street and is heading east. In order to install modern main where Syndicate Street intersects with Sand Creek the crew will drill underneath the creek and thread the new pipe through the drilled hole. This process may progress slowly due to the earth under the creek and the depth of the water.

Construction on phase 1 of CenterPoint’s improvement project in Jordan is progressing. The new main has been installed along Valley View Drive and Quaker Avenue. Crews are now working on replacing and reconnecting service lines to the new main as well as removing the old gas main from service. Service work is ongoing on Valley View Drive, Quaker Avenue, and 2nd Street West.

Following the completion of services, Q3 Contracting will come on site to repair the areas that have been disturbed by construction. Due to the cold weather, sidewalks and grass will receive temporary restoration for the winter months with the goal of higher quality repairs in the spring and summer of 2025.

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

Beginning early November and lasting as long as weather permits, CenterPoint Energy authorized contractors will replace natural gas mains in Jordan. Following the main replacement, crews will work to move inside meters outside by appointment and replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main.

For three months in the spring of 2025, with an anticipated start date in April, additional natural gas main replacements, service line work, and restoration will be performed.

There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work. Please expect traffic impacts to include lane, parking, and sidewalk closures along with some roads closed to through traffic.
