Natural Gas Line Replacements in Golden Valley - Project Updates

A crew from Michels Corporation, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, finished replacing all the natural gas lines within one of CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas line replacement projects in Golden Valley. Work was completed on select streets between Wisconsin Avenue N., Winnetka Avenue N., 23rd Avenue N., and Duluth Street. We appreciate your patience as the work took place.

Remaining work will include restoration efforts from Q3 Contracting, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, within the next few weeks outside the limits of the City of Golden Valley’s Pavement Management Program. We apologize for the inconvenience. Until areas are restored to their original condition, residents may see temporary backfill such as dirt, gravel, or asphalt. Boulevards and lawns will receive black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. Residents are encouraged to water as needed.

This spring, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor Michels Corporation has been replacing the natural gas lines in CenterPoint Energy’s infrastructure in Golden Valley. The pipes used in these pipeline replacement and modernization projects are more resistant to corrosion and leakage, helping us continue to provide the safe, reliable service you count on that keeps you comfortable in your home.

In the month of April, Michels Corporation replaced most of the natural gas lines along the following streets: Wisconsin Avenue N., Orkla Drive, Valders Avenue N., Winnetka Heights Drive, Westbend Road, and Duluth Street. They plan to work on the final replacements by Tuesday, May 7. In this time, they will have replaced natural gas mains, moved inside meters outside by appointment, and replaced and/or reconnected service lines to the new main.

Another CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, will follow to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work outside the limits of the City of Golden Valley’s Pavement Management Program.

In June, Michels Corporation plans to work on the following streets: the cul-de-sac of Ellis Lane at Glenwood Avenue; the cul-de-sac of Varner Circle at Olson Memorial Highway Frontage Road; Culver Road from Kyle Avenue N. to June Avenue N.; and the cul-de-sac of June Avenue N. at Culver Road. They will replace natural gas mains, move inside meters outside by appointment, and replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main. Q3 Contracting, will follow to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

From early April into summer 2024, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will upgrade the natural gas infrastructure on select streets in Golden Valley. The project’s area is between 23rd Avenue N., Winnetka Avenue N., Duluth Street, and Wisconsin Avenue N.

Equix Integrity updates our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace natural gas mains, move inside meters to the outside of homes, and replace or reconnect service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
