This week, a crew from Michels Corporation is beginning to replace the project’s natural gas steel main. For approximately two weeks, they will replace this main on the west side of Moore Street between 1st and 4th Streets. While this road will be open to residents, it will be closed to through traffic. During this time, the west sidewalk will be closed, and the east sidewalk will remain open.
The crew needs to open trench the road to weld pieces of the main together. When the crews cross each intersection along this route, each intersection is estimated to be closed for approximately one day. The crews will work with residents on maintaining access to and from their homes.
Following the steel main replacement, the crews will replace a plastic main on the east side of Moore Street between 1st and 4th Streets. Since the plastic main will be bored, Moore Street will be open to traffic. The west sidewalk will be open while the east side will be closed.
As the crews cross each intersection, they anticipate that the intersections may stay open as they bore the main. If they need to, they may close these intersections for less than a day each.
As the crews cross the alley entrances, they may need to close each entrance for approximately one day each. They will work with residents on maintaining access. While they are working at the entrance, we encourage residents to enter and exit in the alley’s opposite entrance.
Along the west side of Moore Street from 1st to 2nd Streets, the alley entrance will be closed from the week of April 17 to the first or second week of May. Between this week and the first or second week of May, the other alleys will be closed one at a time, before the crews reopen them at the end of the steel main’s replacement.
Thank you very much for your patience as we upgrade our infrastructure.
