Minneapolis - Webber-Camden Neighborhood - Project Updates

All construction related to CenterPoint Energy’s infrastructure improvements in Webber-Camden was completed at the end of December 2024. Current restoration work is temporary due to cold temperatures and will be replaced with permanent solutions as weather allows.

There are currently two service crews working in the Webber Camden Neighborhood of Minneapolis. One crew is working along N. Bryant Avenue on the 41st and 42nd blocks. Another is currently on the 38th and 39th blocks of Aldrich Avenue N. and continues to move south toward Dowling Avenue N.

Through traffic on the 3800 block of Aldrich Avenue N. is restricted from 7am to 5pm daily at this time.

Two crews continue to perform service work in the Webber-Camden area. One crew is currently on the 41st block of Bryant Ave N. and headed north over the next few weeks. Another crew is on the 3900 block on Aldrich Avenue N. and is moving south for the next few weeks toward Dowling Avenue N.

Two CenterPoint Energy contracted crews from Michels Corporation are simultaneously making their way through the Webber-Camden Neighborhood performing service work. Service work includes moving inside meters outside by appointment and connecting the service lines that run from homes to the main in the street.

One crew is currently on Bryant Avenue N. between 38th Avenue N. and 40th Avenue N.

The other crew is on Aldrich Avenue N. moving south and will continue to do so for the next three to four weeks. While work on Aldrich Avenue S. has been continuing on Saturdays as of late, crews will not be working the next three consecutive Saturdays (Oct. 26, Nov. 2, and Nov. 9).

As service work is being completed, CenterPoint’s restoration contractor Q3 will be following a few weeks after to restore sidewalks, roads, boulevards, and lawns.

All gas main installation is complete in the Webber-Camden neighborhood as of today. Service work will follow in the coming weeks to connect service lines to the new gas main.

Q3, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, will be restoring sidewalks, roads, boulevards, and lawns along Dowling Avenue for the next few weeks.

Crews from Michels Corporation, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, have been continuing to replace natural gas lines in CenterPoint’s infrastructure in the Webber-Camden Neighborhood.

One crew has been installing mains. They anticipate finishing their work in the first week of October. The remaining two streets on their agenda are Aldrich Avenue N. between Dowling Avenue N. and 42nd Avenue N. and Dowling Avenue N. between Dupont Avenue N. and Lyndale Avenue N. They will install one main under the east sidewalk of Aldrich Avenue N. and under the south sidewalk of Dowling Avenue N.

During this time, they will close parking and the sidewalk on the side of the road where they’re working. The other side will remain open. Traffic will experience a lane shift but no full road closures.

Several other crews are moving inside meters outside by appointment and replacing and/or reconnecting service lines to the new mains. They have finished their work along the following streets: Humboldt Avenue N. between Dowling Avenue N. and 42nd Avenue N.; Emerson Avenue N. between Dowling Avenue N. and 44th Avenue N.; Girard Avenue N. between Dowling Avenue N. and 44th Avenue N.; and Dupont Avenue N. Dowling Avenue N. and 43rd Avenue N.

They will work on the following streets in the next few weeks: Colfax Avenue N. between Dowling Avenue N. and 42nd Avenue N.; Bryant Avenue N. Dowling Avenue N. and 43rd Avenue N.; Fremont Avenue N. between Dowling Avenue N. and 39th Avenue N. and between 41st Avenue N. and 44th Avenue N.; and Humboldt Avenue N. between 42nd Avenue N. and 44th Avenue N.

They anticipate that the remaining natural gas work will last into October. We appreciate your patience as we’re upgrading our infrastructure.

By the end of this week, a crew from Michels Corporation, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, will have installed a natural gas main under the even-numbered sidewalk of Humboldt Avenue N. from Dowling Avenue N. to 42nd Avenue N.

In the weeks of Monday, July 15 and Monday, July 22, the crew plans to install natural gas mains under the following sidewalks in the following order:

• The even-numbered sidewalk of Humboldt Avenue N. from 42nd Avenue N. to 44th Avenue N.
• The odd-numbered sidewalk of Humboldt Avenue N. from 43rd Avenue N. to 44th Avenue N.
• The even-numbered sidewalk of Humboldt Avenue N. from 44th Avenue N. to 43rd Avenue N.
• The south sidewalk of 43rd Avenue N. from Humboldt Avenue N. to Girard Avenue N.
• The even-numbered sidewalk of Girard Avenue N. from 43rd Avenue N. to 42nd Avenue N.
• The odd-numbered sidewalk of Girard Avenue N. from 42nd Avenue N. to 43rd Avenue N.
• The even-numbered sidewalk of Girard Avenue N. from 43rd Avenue N. to 44th Avenue N.

Another Michels Corporation crew will begin their work on Monday, July 15, starting at Girard Avenue N. working north from Dowling Avenue N. They will move inside meters outside and replace and/or reconnect natural gas service lines to the new mains.

After the natural gas work is done, the crews will put temporary backfill such as gravel or dirt. There may be a few weeks before Q3 Contracting will come to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. We appreciate your patience!

Correction: For approximately one week beginning on Monday, July 1, the crew will install the new natural gas main under the even-numbered sidewalk of Girard Avenue N., working north from Dowling Avenue N. to 42nd Avenue N. They will also install a natural gas main under the odd-numbered and the even-numbered side of Girard Avenue N. between 41st Avenue N. and 42nd Avenue N. They will work under one sidewalk at a time.

No work will happen from Thursday, July 4 to Sunday, July 7.

For approximately one week beginning on Monday, July 8, they will install the natural gas main under the even-numbered sidewalk of Humboldt Avenue N., working south from 42nd Avenue N. to Dowling Avenue N.

As a reminder, parking and a sidewalk will be closed on the side where the crews are working. (An exception is that both sides of Humboldt Avenue N. will have parking restricted from Dowling Avenue N. to 42nd Avenue N., since the west side of Humboldt Avenue N. faces the Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Funeral Chapel and Cemetery.)

After this work is done, the crew will work on Emerson Avenue N. More details will be provided closer to that time. No gas interruption will occur during the main installments.

A crew from Michels Utility Services, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, will begin natural gas line replacements in the Webber-Camden neighborhood on Monday, July 1. Residents may see equipment moved into the neighborhood on Friday, June 28 and spray paint or utility flags marking public underground utilities. For approximately two weeks beginning July 1, the crew plans to install a natural gas main under the even-numbered sidewalk of Humboldt Avenue N. and Girard Avenue N. working north from Dowling Avenue N. to 42nd Avenue N. (An exception will be that the crews will install natural gas mains under the odd-numbered and the even-numbered sidewalks of Girard Avenue N. from 41st Avenue N. to 42nd Avenue N.)

From early July into fall 2024, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in the Webber-Camden Neighborhood in Minneapolis to replace the natural gas mains, move inside meters outside by appointment, replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main, and restore the areas affected by this work. The project area is from 44th Avenue N. to Dowling Avenue N. and from Humboldt Avenue N. to 6th Street N. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.

For several weeks this 2023 construction season, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work on select streets in the Webber-Camden Neighborhood in Minneapolis. Equix Integrity will update our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. A natural gas contractor will move inside meters to the outside of homes and replace natural gas service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by the gas contractor’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
