​Project Status - Minneapolis - Sunrise Drive

10/7/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy have finished construction in the Sunrise Drive project in Minneapolis from W. 58th Street to W. 60th Street. They installed about 4,732 feet of natural gas distribution main, connected about 57 natural gas service lines to the main, and restored the hard and soft surfaces affected by construction.

CenterPoint Energy wants to thank the residents and customers for their patience during this process.​


9/22/2016 Update

Crews from Q3, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, have been restoring the hard and soft surfaces affected by construction and anticipate finishing in approximately two weeks. They are currently working from east to west on Sunrise Drive from W. 58th Street to W. 60th Street.

  • By about Friday, September 30, the crews plan to finish the sidewalks.
  • ​By about Friday, October 7, the crews plan to finish the roads and soft surfaces. They will be closing and reopening one block at a time as the road restoration is being complete.
The scheduled is subject to change pending weather and construction. CenterPoint Energy thanks the residents for their patience. 


9/7/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, finished installing the natural gas distribution main in early August and have been connecting gas service lines to the new main.

By approximately Friday, September 9, the crews plan to finish the connections. Once they are done, crews from Q3, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will restore the hard and soft surfaces affected by construction.

8/2/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, are progressing in their work on the Sunrise Drive project in Minneapolis.
 
So far, they finished installing the main gas pipe along W. 50th Street, Sunrise Drive and W. 58th Street, according to the yellow route highlighted in the map below. 

The next step is connecting the gas service lines from residential houses to the main gas pipe. Another crew will take over that job. 

Restoring the roads and soil will be the final step in the Sunrise Drive project. That step may take place while the crews are connecting the service lines to the main gas pipe.​



7/11/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy will be closing the north sidewalk from Dupont Avenue S. to Newton Avenue S. starting July 11.

Crews are also closing the westbound parking lane on Sunrise Drive from Dupont Avenue S. to Newton Avenue S.


7/1/2016 Update

As a system upgrade project, Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will replace approximately 4,505 feet of various diameter plastic and steel pipe with 4,732 feet of 2-inch, 3-inch and 6-inch plastic pipe along 60th Street W., Sunrise Drive and 58th Street W. 


The work will also include the replacement of approximately 57 natural gas service lines. Construction is expected to ​begin in July 2016 and will require approximately one and a half months to complete the work.​


CenterPoint Energy will provide updates on the progress of this project.
