Installation of the modern natural gas main on Minnehaha Avenue, Cedar Avenue South and South 9th street was completed last week on April 19. As of today, any service line replacements and connections are complete as well.


In the coming weeks, crews will be on site to restore any areas impacted by the construction. Until then, temporary restoration may be seen on sidewalks, boulevards and in the roadway.

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

For a few months beginning this April, CenterPoint Energy will replace the natural gas infrastructure on a few streets in the Seward neighborhood. Updates regarding the utility crew's location, traffic impacts and other details will be posted here regularly.


Before construction begins, an authorized contractor will be in the area to locate sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. This is an important safety measure CenterPoint is required to take. It is possible a technician performing this work will need to access your home to locate sewer lines. Ask to see CenterPoint Energy identification before letting anyone in your home.
