In the week of September 2nd, a crew from Michels, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, plans to begin replacing the natural gas main under the east sidewalk of Washington St NE between 17 Ave NE and 23 Ave NE, Adams St NE between 17 Ave NE & 18 Ave NE, & under the south sidewalk of 20 Ave NE between Washington St NE & Jefferson St NE.
They anticipate that the main replacement on these roads will take approximately 2-3 weeks. During this time, parking will be restricted on east side of Washington St NE & Adams St NE & the south side of 20 Ave NE in this area. There will also be sidewalk closures in the area but one side will remain open to allow pedestrian access.

Natural gas construction updates

For several months beginning this July, CenterPoint Energy will replace natural gas infrastructure in Northeast Minneapolis. Updates regarding the utility crew's location, traffic impacts and other details will be posted here regularly.


Before construction begins, an authorized contractor will be in the area to locate sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. This is an important safety measure CenterPoint is required to take. It is possible a technician performing this work will need to access your home to locate sewer lines. Ask to see CenterPoint Energy identification before letting anyone in your home.
