9/30/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin removing pipe along the north side of 7th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue today, Wednesday, September 30.

Please anticipate two driving lanes to remain open along 7th Street S. at all hours through next Friday, October 9.​

Please note that the city of Minneapolis will begin the 
Transit Advantage Project after CenterPoint Energy's construction is complete.

CenterPoint Energy has completed all construction and restoration along

9/10/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, continue installing natural gas distribution pipe along the north side of 7th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue. 

Please note, two driving lanes will remain open along 7th Street S. at all hours through Thursday, September 24.

9/4/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin installing natural gas distribution pipe along the north side of 7th Street S. on Tuesday, September 8.

Crews will begin construction near the intersection of Marquette Avenue S. and 7th Street S. and work west to Hennepin Avenue.

Crews will not be working near the Nicollet Mall intersection.The northern parking lane and one driving lane on 7th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue will be closed. Three driving lanes will remain open along 7th Street S. with the possibility of reducing to two driving lanes.

Construction along 7th Street S. will continue through the week of September 21.

Please note the city of Minneapolis will begin the Transit Advantage Project after CenterPoint Energy’s construction is complete. CenterPoint Energy’s Nicollet Mall project is near completion.

8/25/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, are currently installing natural gas distribution pipe between 9th Street S. 10th Street S. along Nicollet Mall through next Thursday, September 3.
 
From Saturday, August 29 to Sunday, August 30 please anticipate the following:
  • Intermittent lane shifts while crews cross 10th Street S. between Nicollet Mall and Marquette Avenue S.
  • The northern parking lane and two driving lanes along 9th Street S., from LaSalle Avenue to Hennepin Avenue will be closed. Three driving lanes will remain open along 9th Street S.
 
Next week, crews will be replacing scattered services lines along 10th Street S., between Nicollet Mall and Marquette Avenue S. 
 
For the next several weekends, crews will be replacing the final services lines along 9th Street S., between Nicollet Mall and Hennepin Avenue. Three lanes of traffic will remain open along 9th Street S. during construction.
 
Construction along 7th Street S., from Hennepin Avenue to Marquette Avenue S., will begin on September 8.
 
CenterPoint Energy anticipates completing construction along Nicollet Mall on Monday, September 25.

8/14/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will continue installing natural gas distribution pipe along Nicollet Mall, between 9th Street S. and 10th Street S. through next Friday, August 21.
 
Please anticipate lane shifts tomorrow, Saturday, August 15 as crews cross 11th Street S. at Nicollet Mall.

8/5/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin installing natural gas distribution pipe along 10th Street S., east of Nicollet Mall, on Friday, August 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

No parking will be allowed along the north and south sides of eastbound 10th Street S., from 300 feet west of Nicollet Mall to Marquette Avenue S. Beginning next week, please anticipate intermittent lane closures in this area as construction progresses.

After 10th Street S., crews will begin installing natural gas distribution pipe along the west side of Nicollet Mall, from 10th Street S. to 9th Street S. The west sidewalk of Nicollet Mall will be closed.

For the remainder of the week, crews will be replacing scattered service lines along Nicollet Mall, between Grant Street and 12th Street S. Please anticipate a lane shift at the intersection of Grant Street and Nicollet Mall from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

7/20/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, continue installing natural gas distribution pipe along Nicollet Mall, from Grant Street to 11 Street S.

From Thursday, July 23 to Friday, July 24, crews will be replacing natural gas service lines just east of the 9 Street S. and Nicollet Mall intersection. Westbound 9th Street S. traffic will be maintained at this intersection.

On Monday, July 27, crews will be working in the southern two lanes of 12 Street S., both east and west of the Nicollet Mall intersection.

From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 12 Street S. will be reduced to two lanes of traffic and no parking signs will be posted east and west of the Nicollet Mall intersection. Please anticipate these traffic restrictions to continue for approximately one week.

​7/2/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin preliminary construction and traffic control setup at various locations along Nicollet Mall on Monday, July 6th.

Crews will begin installing natural gas distribution pipe along the east side of Nicollet Mall, just south of Grant Street E. on Tuesday, July 7th or Wednesday, July 8th.

The current bus stop located at the southeast intersection of Nicollet Mall and Grant Street E. will relocate further south along Nicollet Mall until construction progresses northwards.

Crews anticipate working at this intersection for approximately one week. Please anticipate lane shifts along the east side of Nicollet Avenue S., south of Grant Street E. Eastbound and westbound Grant Street E. traffic will be reduced to one lane.

On Monday, July 6th, crews will be working at the intersection of 9th Street S. and Nicollet Mall.

Westbound 9th Street S. traffic will be maintained at this intersection.

On Tuesday, July 7th, crews will begin construction southwards along Nicollet Mall, from just south of 5th Street S. to 6th Street S. CenterPoint Energy's construction at this location will be within the city of Minneapolis' current closure of Nicollet Mall.

Crews anticipate reaching the intersection of Nicollet Mall and 6th Street S. by the end of the week.

Westbound 6th Street S. will be reduced to two lanes of traffic and no parking signs will be posted 250 feet east and west of the Nicollet Mall intersection. Please anticipate these traffic restrictions between Thursday, July 9th and Friday, July 17th.

Please note that businesses will be open during construction. The city bus routes along Nicollet Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, July 6th.
