Minneapolis - Morris Neighborhood - Project Updates

As temperatures begin to rise, CenterPoint anticipates the beginning of the 2025 construction season. Beginning at the end of March, service crews will be present in the Morris Neighborhood to resume moving meters outside and upgrading service lines. Permanent restoration for those who received temporary solutions in the winter will also be in the area in the coming weeks.

Construction efforts in Morris paused for the winter on December 19, 2024. All natural gas main construction was completed within the 2024 construction season however some service work remains to be done in 2025. Crews will be back on site as weather allows to complete utility work in Morris. Updates will be provided prior to their return.

Current restoration work is temporary due to cold temperatures and will be replaced with permanent solutions following the completion of services in 2025.

There will be two service crews working in the Morris Neighborhood this week to complete construction work in a timely manner. We anticipate service work in Morris to wrap up in the next few weeks with restoration to follow.

Natural gas main installation is complete in the Morris Neighborhood. Service work is underway and expected to continue through early next week. The final step in the construction process will be restoration of affected sidewalks, roads, lawns, and boulevards.

Due to the colder temperatures, crews will perform temporary restoration efforts throughout the fall with permanent solutions to come in the spring and summer of 2025 as weather conditions allow.

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 12, a crew from Michels Corporation will begin installing a natural gas main under the east sidewalk of 42nd Avenue S. between 54th Street E. and 55th Street E. Following the installation of the new main, another crew will move inside meters outside by appointment and replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main. Restoration will follow in the path of service work, approximately 2 weeks behind.

Beginning in late August 2024 and lasting for a few months, a crew from Michels Corporation, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, will begin working on the natural gas lines in Morris Park & Wenonah.

On 42nd Avenue S. between 54th Street E. and 55th Street E., the crew will install a natural gas main, move inside meters outside by appointment, and replace and/or reconnect the service lines to the new main.

On the following streets, the crews will only move inside meters outside by appointment and replace some service lines: 30th Avenue S. between 54th Street E. and 56th Street E.; Nokomis Avenue S. between 55th Street E. and 56th Street E.; 32nd Avenue S. between 54th Street E. and 57th Street E.; and Boardman Street between 34th Avenue S. and 42nd Avenue S.

A crew from Q3 Contracting, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, will follow to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. Restoration typically happens a few weeks after the natural gas work. We thank you for your patience!

For a few months beginning in summer or fall 2024, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will upgrade CenterPoint’s natural gas infrastructure in the Morris Park and the Wenonah Neighborhoods in Minneapolis along select streets. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.

For several months this summer, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work on select streets throughout the Morris Neighborhood in Minneapolis. The project’s area is between 55th and 58th Streets E. and between 34th and 42nd Avenues S. While crews from Michels Corporation will move inside meters outside by appointment and replace some service lines, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

A crew from Michels Corporation finished the service line and meter work on 35th Avenue S. and are halfway done with the service line and meter work on 36th Avenue S. They anticipate finishing the service line and meter work on 36th Avenue S. by the end of the week of July 17. After that, they will work on 55th Street E. for approximately two weeks.

Another crew finished the service line and meter work on 40th Street E. They are halfway through 39th Avenue S. Then they will work on 38th Avenue S. and 55th Street E.

In areas where the crews are working, they will put “no parking” signs during work hours Monday through Thursday. We appreciate your patience as we’re upgrading our infrastructure.

For several months this 2023 construction season, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work on select streets throughout the Morris Neighborhood in Minneapolis. The project’s area is between 55th and 58th Streets E. and between 34th and 42nd Avenues S.

Equix Integrity will update our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. A natural gas contractor will move inside meters to the outside of homes and replace natural gas service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by the gas contractor’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
