CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors are finishing CenterPoint Energy’s project on 50th Street W. in the Lynnhurst Neighborhood. A crew from Michels Corporation finished replacing the project’s natural gas lines. This included the mains, service lines, and meters. Q3 Contracting will follow to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

After the service line and meter work, the gas crew will backfill the excavated areas with dirt or gravel. This will be temporary before the restoration crew comes. On boulevards and lawns, they will refill the areas with black dirt, grass seed, and netting made of wood fiber that degrades over about four months. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the netting.

We hope to minimize the disruption as much as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we replace our infrastructure. We wish you a great season!

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

As of April 6, 2023, there will be two projects in 2023 in the Lynnhurst Neighborhood, performed by CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors. For one project, crews will work on select intersections along 50th Street W. between Abbott and Lyndale Avenues S. This will last from Thursday, April 13 into late May. It will include replacing a natural gas main, connecting service lines to the new main, and moving inside meters outside.

For another project, crews will work on select streets between 46th Street W. and Minnehaha Parkway and between Minnehaha Parkway and Lyndale Avenue. This will last for several months this year; the timing is to be determined. It will include replacement of some service lines and moving inside meters outside.

Equix Integrity will update our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will perform the gas work on 50th St. W. A natural gas contractor will be determined for the remaining meter and service line work in the neighborhood. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by the gas work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
