All natural gas main and service line work is complete in the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood. Restoration, whether that be permanent or temporary in preparation for winter, is also complete in the area. Any related traffic restrictions have been lifted, and the crews are off site for the year.

Service work is in progress in Lowry Hill East, with crews working on Hennepin Avenue between Emerson Avenue S. and 26th Street W. Hennepin Avenue W. has been reduced to the middle two lanes of traffic at this time.
Beginning tomorrow, Oct. 29, 25th ½ Street W. will be closed as services are done on that street.
Next week, beginning Monday Nov. 4, Emerson Avenue S. between Hennepin Avenue S. and 25th Street W. will be closed to traffic.
We anticipate construction to be complete in the next few weeks with restoration following approximately two weeks behind service crews.

As of this week in mid-October, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, has completed the installation of a new gas main along Hennepin Avenue S.
Crews are now beginning to replace and/or attach service lines to the new main as well as move inside meters outside by appointment.
Current traffic impacts include the closure of the north bound lane of Hennepin Avenue between 26th Street W. and Emerson Avenue S. Within the next week, Hennepin Avenue’s south bound parking lane will be restricted as well.

In the month of April 2024, the crews replaced natural gas lines along Hennepin Avenue from Lincoln Avenue to Franklin Avenue. In the month of October 2024, the crews plan to return to replace natural gas lines along Hennepin Avenue from Emerson Avenue S. to 26th Street W. During this time, they will replace a natural gas main, move inside meters outside by appointment, replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main, and restore the areas affected by their work.
Although traffic details will be updated, please expect the following to happen: At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction. Parking restrictions may occur on one or both sides of the roads where the crews are working. Sidewalk closures may occur one at a time, leaving the opposite one open.

A crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, are progressing on CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas line replacement project in Lowry Hill East.
By Monday, April 15, they plan to finish the natural gas work on Hennepin Avenue between Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue. This includes replacing the gas main, moving inside meters outside by appointment, and replacing and/or reconnecting the service lines to the new main.
By Wednesday, April 17, they plan to remove the traffic barriers associated with their work.
In early May, they plan to return to Hennepin Avenue to replace natural gas mains and service lines and move inside meters outside between 26th Street W. and Emerson Avenue S. More details will be posted closer to then about traffic impacts and the crews’ progress. We appreciate your patience as we’re replacing our infrastructure!

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, began the natural gas line replacement project in Lowry Hill East on Hennepin Avenue.
Beginning on Monday, April 1 and continuing for about 3 or 4 weeks, the crews will replace a natural gas main, move inside meters outside by appointment, and replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main between Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue.
During this time, the west sidewalk will be closed. Between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane. After 3:00 p.m., southbound traffic will be reopened to two lanes.
What will CenterPoint Energy do?
CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will upgrade the natural gas infrastructure in the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood. This April and May, they will work on Hennepin Ave. from 26th St. W. to Emerson Ave. S. and from Franklin Ave. to Lincoln Ave.
Equix Integrity updates our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace natural gas mains, move inside meters to the outside of homes, and replace or reconnect service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
