In the week of July 22, a crew from Michels Corporation will begin replacing natural gas mains within the routes of CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas line replacements in Central Neighborhood this year. (This work is in addition to the meter and service line work this summer.) Into August, they plan to replace the mains along the following streets, focusing on the areas near Richard R. Green Central Park Elementary School first:

The south sidewalk of 35th Street E. from 3rd Avenue S. to Clinton Avenue S.; the west sidewalk of Clinton Avenue S. from 35th Street E. to 36th Street E.; and the east sidewalk of 4th Avenue S. from 34th Street E. to 31st Street E.

During this time, the crew plans to close parking on both sides of the affected roads. One sidewalk will be closed at a time. The crews do not anticipate any natural gas interruptions during the main replacements.

At times to be determined, they plan to replace the natural gas mains on 31st Street E. from 2nd Avenue S. to 4th Avenue S. and on 34th Street E. from 4th Avenue S. to Park Avenue S.
