CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors have almost completed the project. While the natural gas lines within the project’s routes have been replaced, the restoration is nearly complete. In the next week or two, the crews anticipate that the concrete will have been cured, the blacktop surfaces will have been restored, and the soft surfaces will have black dirt, grass seed, and biodegradable netting.

Any further work in the neighborhood will be done by the City of Minneapolis for its “Beltrami and Monroe ADA Pedestrian Ramp Upgrades and Resurfacing.”

We appreciate your patience as we upgraded our natural gas lines! Have a great rest of your summer!

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors, Michels Corporation and Q3 Contracting, have been continuing to replace natural gas service lines and move inside meters outside.

A crew from Michels Corporation plans to finish their work by Wednesday, May 17. They will have worked on the service lines and meters on Lincoln, Buchanan and Pierce Streets NE between 12th and 14th Avenues NE.

Into the week of May 15, a crew from Q3 Contracting is continuing to work on the following streets: Fillmore Street NE between Broadway Street NE and Hennepin Avenue; Taylor Street NE between Summer and Winter Streets NE; and Polk Street NE between Broadway and Spring Streets NE.

Until the gas crews are done, parking will be restricted on both sides of the roads. One sidewalk will be temporarily closed each day during work hours.

A separate crew from Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by the gas crews’ work outside the limits of the City of Minneapolis’s Beltrami and Monroe ADA Pedestrian Ramp Upgrades and Resurfacing. Temporary backfill such as gravel or dirt will stay in place of the excavated areas until the restoration crew arrives. On boulevards and lawns, the crew will refill the areas with black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the netting.

We want to thank you for your patience as we’re upgrading our natural gas lines! Have a great season.

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

For several months starting Monday, April 10, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work on select streets in the Beltrami Neighborhood in Minneapolis. Equix Integrity will update our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. A natural gas contractor will replace a natural gas main, move inside meters to the outside of homes, and replace or reconnect service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by the gas crew’s work outside the limits of the City of Minneapolis’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
