​Project Status - Minneapolis - 9th Street S.​

 9/18/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin pipe removal along 9th Street S. this weekend.

Crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from Saturday, September 19 to Sunday, September 20 along 9th Street S., between Marquette Avenue S. and Hennepin Avenue.

The southern parking lane and one driving lane on 9th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue will be open. The three northern driving lanes will be closed.

From Monday, September 21 to Friday, September 25, crews will be restoring road. Three lanes of traffic on 9th Street, from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue, will remain open during rush hour and reducing to two lanes between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

CenterPoint Energy’s restoration along 9th Street S. will finish on Friday, September 25. Thank you.

9/11/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will resume construction along 9th Street S. this weekend.

Crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from Saturday, September 12 to Sunday, September 13 along 9th Street S. near Nicollet Mall.

The northern parking lane and one driving lane on 9th Street S., from LaSalle Avenue to Marquette Avenue will be open. The three southern driving lanes will be closed.

Crews will begin scattered restoration on Monday, September 14 and continue through Friday, September 18, working 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Please anticipate crews to return onsite Saturday, September 19 to Sunday, September 20 for pipe removal.

CenterPoint Energy’s construction along 9th Street S. will finish on Friday, September 25. Thank you.


8/28/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will complete the four remaining service line replacements along 9th Street S. this weekend.

Crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from Saturday, August 29 to Sunday, August 30.

The northern parking lane and one driving lane on 9th Street S., from LaSalle Avenue to Hennepin Avenue will be closed. Two driving lanes will remain open along 9th Street S.

Please anticipate the same schedule for the weekend of September 12 through September 13, but with the north lane and parking lane open and the 3 south lanes closed.

7/23/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will complete construction and remove all traffic control by Monday, July 27 along 9th Street S.

Tomorrow, crews from Q3, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin restoring and paving the scattered holes that currently remain on 9th Street S., between Hennepin Avenue S. and Marquette Avenue S.

After the city of Minneapolis and CenterPoint Energy complete construction along 7th Street S., crews will return to 9th Street S. to replace the remaining service lines and complete pipe removal.

7/14/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will complete open trenching along the north side of 9th Street S. at Hennepin Avenue today, Tuesday, July 14.

Northbound and southbound Hennepin Avenue will continue to be reduced to one lane in both directions until Thursday, July 16.

By the end of the week, crews will be working just west of the 9
th Street S. and Hennepin Avenue intersection.

CenterPoint Energy's 9
th Street S. construction project is anticipated to finish on Friday, July 24.

All traffic control from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue S. along 9th Street S. will continue until Friday, July 24.

Crews from Q3, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, are currently paving the intersection of Nicollet Mall and 9
th Street S.

In early September, CenterPoint Energy crews will return to the intersections of Nicollet Mall and Lasalle Avenue at 9
th Street S. for final construction efforts.

6/29/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, continue open trenching along the north side of 9th Street S., working from LaSalle Avenue to Nicollet Avenue S. Westbound 9th Street S. continues to be reduced to two lanes of traffic in this area.

Crews will not be working from Friday, July 3rd to Sunday, July 5th.   

From Monday, July 6th to Thursday, July 9th, crews will be working at the intersection of 9th Street S. and Nicollet Avenue S.

Westbound 9th Street S. traffic will be maintained at this intersection but Nicollet Mall will be closed for the Nicollet Mall Project.

Beginning Friday, July 10th crews will begin open trenching along the north side of 9th Street S., west of LaSalle Avenue toward Hennepin Avenue S.

An update will be sent after Independence Day weekend regarding upcoming Hennepin Avenue S. intersection work.

All parking and bike lanes will continue to be closed from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue S. along 9th Street S.

6/19/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, continue open trenching along the north side of 9th Street S., from Nicollet Avenue S. to LaSalle Avenue. Westbound 9th Street S. continues to be reduced to two lanes of traffic in this area.

Crews anticipate reaching Nicolle t Avenue by next Friday, June 26th.

Traffic is currently reopened between Nicollet Avenue S. and Marquette Avenue S. along 9th Street S.

Crews are not scheduled to work over the next several weekends.

All parking and bike lanes will continue to be closed from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue S. along 9th Street S.

6/11/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, continue open trenching along the north side of 9th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue S.

Construction will begin on Saturday, June 13th at the intersection of 9th Street S. and Nicollet Avenue S.

Nicollet Avenue S. will be reduced to one lane over the weekend. Flaggers will be directing traffic to maintain northbound and southbound access.

9th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. to LaSalle Avenue, will be reduced to one westbound lane over the weekend. The southern 9th Street S. lane will remain open.

Construction will continue at this intersection until Sunday, June 14th. Crews will be working Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The intersection will be open for traffic Monday morning.

The current bus stop at 9th Street S. and Nicollet Avenue S. will be moved to the intersection of 9th Street S. and LaSalle Avenue beginning Friday at 9:00 a.m. Please anticipate this bus stop change to continue for one week.

After the weekend, westbound 9th Street S. traffic will be reduced back to two lanes of traffic.

All parking and bike lanes will be closed from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue S. along 9th Street S.

Please note the city of Minneapolis will be paving 9th Street S., between Chicago Avenue S. and Marquette Avenue S. from Friday, June 12th to Saturday, June 13th. View details here.

5/29/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, have finished all temporary pipe installation and service line replacement along 9th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue.

Construction will begin tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th, at the intersection of 9th Street S. and LaSalle Avenue. Construction will continue at this intersection until Tuesday, June 2nd. Crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Northbound LaSalle Avenue will be reduced to one lane and southbound LaSalle Avenue will be closed at this intersection. Please follow the posted detour.

On Wednesday, June 3rd, crews will begin open trenching along the north side of 9th Street S., from Marquette Avenue S. towards LaSalle Avenue S.

All parking and bike lanes will be closed from Marquette Avenue S. to Hennepin Avenue S. along 9th Street S.

Westbound 9th Street S. traffic will be reduced to two lanes throughout the duration of the construction project.

5/19/2015 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin gas main installation along 9th Street S. tonight at 7:00 p.m. until approximately 12:00 a.m.

Construction will resume Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. The same construction schedule will follow Thursday if needed.
 
Construction will begin at the intersection of Nicollet Avenue S. and 9th Street S. Crews will be open trenching along the north side of 9th Street S. and working approximately 500 feet east and west of this intersection.

The north sidewalk, parking lane and bike lane will be closed from Marquette Avenue S. to LaSalle Avenue S. along 9th Street S.

Westbound 9th Street S. traffic will be reduced to two lanes throughout the duration of the construction project.

The north sidewalk, parking lane and bike lane will be closed from Marquette Avenue S. to LaSalle Avenue S. along 9th Street S.

Westbound 9th Street S. traffic will be reduced to two lanes over the weekend. Crews will be working from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, if needed. Traffic will resume to normal by Monday morning.
