During the weeks of August 8 and August 14, crews from CenterPoint Energy will be working westbound past Newton Avenue crossing Oliver Avenue and ending between Penn Avenue and Oliver Avenue. The crews will be finished installing the new natural gas distribution main until August 17, construction pending.
8/1/2016 Update
During the week of August 1 to 6, crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, will be working west on W. 54th Street from Newton Avenue S. to Penn Avenue S.
In this week, W. 54th Street will remain closed from Penn Avenue S. to Lyndale Avenue S. due to both Michels’ work and a sewer contractor’s work from Lyndale Avenue S. to Humboldt Avenue S.
Crews from Michels estimate approximately two to three weeks for completing this phase of the project. Afterward, the next phase will include installing service lines from residential houses to the natural gas distribution main (date is yet to be determined). The city of Minneapolis will restore the blacktop roads.

Where is CenterPoint Energy's construction?
For the week of July 18 to 22, crews from CenterPoint Energy will be installing a 24-inch steel main from James Avenue S. heading west to Logan Avenue S. Some access will be available to W. 54th Street to the east and west of this area.

What is CenterPoint Energy doing?
Crews from CenterPoint Energy are working on W. 54th Street at Humbolt Avenue S. and will be working to Irving Avenue S. during the week of July 11.
What will this mean for residents?
There will be some access on W. 54th Street from the east and west unless the road contractors have some road closings.The scope of the project is expected to end approximately in August 2016. Some sections of the project may be finished before other sections.
6/28/2016 Update
What is CenterPoint Energy doing?
Crews from CenterPoint Energy are installing a 24-inch natural gas distribution main along W. 54th Street in Minneapolis.
Starting next Tuesday, there will be hard closures from Humboldt Avenue S. to Fremont Avenue S. from July 5 till July 15. There will be no parking in that three-block radius.
Crews have completed installing the 24-inch pipe from Dupont Avenue S. to Lyndale Avenue S. By the end of the week crews should be done from Fremont Avenue S. to Dupont Avenue S.
What will this mean for residents?
In the meantime until construction is done, crews will have residents’ driveways backfilled from Fremont Avenue S. to Dupont Avenue S. so that residents can get in and out starting at 8:30 p.m. every night.The driveways will be open at night. By 7 a.m. the crews will begin work every morning until construction is done.

Crews

currently working at each intersection from Aldrich Avenue S. to Humboldt
Avenue S. along W. 54th Street.
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 5, crews will
finish construction at the final intersection, Humboldt Avenue S.
On Monday, May 9, residents
along W. 52nd Street can anticipate crews to begin installing pipeline along
the south side of W. 52nd Street, between Morgan Avenue S. and Humboldt Avenue
S. Construction along W. 52nd Street will continue for approximately four days,
weather permitting.
During the week of May 16,
crews will return back to 54th Street W. to continue working at each
intersection between Irving Avenue S. and Penn Avenue S. Traffic will be
maintained in both directions.
