Project Status - Hopkins - Highway 7
8/5/2016 Update
Crews from CenterPoint Energy have finished their project on Highway 7 in Hopkins. The affected streets included Highway 7, Hopkins Crossroad, 5th Street N. and Minnesota Service Road, where the crews installed a new main gas pipe and restored the blacktop and concrete roads.
Traffic should be relieved in these areas. CenterPoint Energy wants to thank you for your patience.
7/20/2016 Update
Crews from CenterPoint Energy will be done installing the gas pipeline on Highway 7 in Hopkins by Friday, July 22. The crews will begin restoring the blacktop on Highway 7 and Hopkins Crossroad which should take about a week.
Meanwhile, there will be two tie-ins at the following intersections: Hopkins Crossroad and 5th Street N., the two lower corners of Minnesota Service Road, and one in the middle of Highway 7. These tie-ins will not affect traffic.
On Hopkins Crossroad, traffic control will remain the same. The westernmost northbound lane on Hopkins Crossroad is closed from Highway 7 to 5th Street N.
7/11/2016 Update
What is CenterPoint Energy doing?
As a system upgrade project, crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, will be installing approximately 1,915 feet of 2-, 6- and 8-inch natural gas pipeline along Highway 7 and Hopkins Crossroad in Hopkins.
The project is expected to start Monday, July 11, 2016, and is anticipated to last until the week of July 25, 2016.
Where are the crews right now?
Crews will be obstructing the westernmost northbound lane on Hopkins Crossroad from Highway 7 to 5th Street N. They will also be working on the Minnesota 7 Service Road from Hopkins Crossroad east to 12th Avenue N.
