What is CenterPoint Energy doing for construction?

CenterPoint Energy began replacing a natural gas distribution pipeline on Monday, April 3. The project consists of two phases as highlighted on the attached map; only Phase One has been constructed during the 2017 construction season. CenterPoint Energy’s work is being completed prior to the start of a Hennepin County project involving Golden Valley Road in the area of Bassett Creek Drive and Bonnie Lane. 

This construction will happen in two phases:

Minnesota Limited, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, replaced the existing natural gas transmission line associated with Phase One, beginning on Golden Valley Road west of Bassett Creek Drive, and then progressing in the utility right of way located in Theodore Wirth Golf Course. The crews have restored the roadways, soft surfaces and areas affected by construction (right of way).

Phase Two will occur in the utility right of way in Theodore Wirth Golf Course, between Bonnie Lane to Theodore Wirth Parkway and Glenwood Parkway, and along Theodore Wirth Parkway from the railroad to Zenith Avenue N. CenterPoint Energy has scheduled Phase Two to occur in the 2018 construction season. A separate notice will be sent out and updates will be posted on CenterPoint Energy’s website closer to Phase Two’s start date.​

Crews from Minnesota Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, finished installing the natural gas main on Golden Valley Road between Bassett Creek Drive and Bonnie Lane.

Restoration is currently taking place for construction that took place for Phase One of Two in the Golden Valley Road and Bassett Creek construction project.

Phase Two will begin in Fall 2017. Updates will be posted on CenterPoint Energy’s website closer to Phase Two’s start date.​

Crews from Minnesota Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, are finishing the installation of the new natural gas main on Golden Valley Road between Bassett Creek Drive and Bonnie Lane.

In the week of March 24, the crews opened Golden Valley Road to allow two lanes of traffic between Bassett Creek Drive and Bonnie Lane. The lane restrictions that are currently in place will be lifted by Friday, May 5.

After the crews finish installing the new gas main, they will restore the areas affected by construction. Restoration will take up to May 12 or early into the week of May 15. In the fall, they will come back for Phase Two of the Golden Valley Road/Bassett Creek construction project.​

By the end of the week of May 1 or 8, crews from Minnesota Limited will be done with Phase One of construction in Golden Valley. During this time, they will be finishing the new gas main installation and restoring areas affected by construction.

The crews have lifted the lane closure on Golden Valley Road to allow two lanes of traffic. When Phase One is complete, the crews will completely lift all lane restrictions and traffic control equipment from the site.

Also after Phase One, the crews will begin Phase Two in Fall 2017. Updates will be posted on CenterPoint Energy’s website closer to Phase Two​’s start date.​

Starting this Monday on April 24, the crews from Minnesota Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will be opening Golden Valley Road to allow two lanes of traffic.

Phase One of the Golden Valley Road & Bassett Creek project will be done by the end of the week of April 24. After Phase One is complete, the crews will restore the areas affected by construction at no cost to the customer.

Phase Two will begin in Fall 2017. CenterPoint Energy will be posting frequent updates regarding project details.​

Crews from Minnesota Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will be closing Golden Valley Road (County Road 66) between Mary Hills Drive and Bassett Creek Drive from April 17 to April 23. Advanced warning signs will be placed ahead of the construction site starting Monday, April 10.

Detour signs will be placed for the construction site as well. Drivers traveling eastbound on Golden Valley Road will be directed south on Highway 100, east on Highway 55, and then north on Penn Avenue where the detour will end at Golden Valley Road. Drivers traveling westbound on Golden Valley Road will follow the same route back onto Golden Valley Road on the opposite site of the closure.

What is CenterPoint Energy doing for construction?

CenterPoint Energy will begin replacing a natural gas distribution pipeline Monday, April 3. Work is anticipated to be complete by early May 2017, weather permitting.  The project consists of two phases as highlighted on the attached map; only Phase One will be constructed at this time.  CenterPoint Energy’s work is being completed prior to the start of a Hennepin County project involving Golden Valley Road in the area of Bassett Creek Drive and Bonnie Lane.  Minnesota Limited, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, is anticipated to begin the replacement of the existing natural gas transmission line associated with Phase One, beginning on Golden Valley Road west of Bassett Creek Drive, and then progressing in the utility right of way located in Theodore Wirth Golf Course.  Lane restrictions on Golden Valley Road are required when construction activity is occurring on the roadway and is necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe.

This construction will happen in two phases: 

Phase One will occur along Golden Valley Road from west of Bassett Creek Drive to Bonnie Lane, in the utility right of way located in Theodore Wirth Golf Course.  Phase Two will occur in the utility right of way in Theodore Wirth Golf Course, between Bonnie Lane to Theodore Wirth Parkway and Glenwood Parkway, and along Theodore Wirth Parkway from the railroad to Zenith Avenue N.  A separate notice will be sent out prior to Phase Two construction work, which may occur fall 2017.  Both phases will consist of installing the natural gas transmission pipe and after each phase is done construction crews will restore disturbed roadways and soft surfaces (right of way).
