Excelsior - Oak Street
Scheduled Start Date: September 12, 2016
What is CenterPoint Energy doing?
Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will begin construction on the new natural gas pipe along Oak Street in Excelsior on about Monday, September 12. The construction is expected to take approximately five weeks. The crews are installing about 2,690 feet of natural gas distribution main along the southwestern side of Oak Street from Beehrle Avenue to Highway 7. (See map below.) While the crews are working on the southeastern side of Oak Street, they will maintain two-way traffic for the length of the project.
What does this mean for residents?
In addition, CenterPoint Energy will be connecting about 30 gas service lines to the gas main. (A gas service line is a small pipe connecting the resident’s gas to the main line in the street.) Customers will experience a short disruption of gas service. Crews may have to dig in some residents’ properties in the utility easement to achieve this task. If a resident’s property is disturbed, CenterPoint Energy will be responsible for restoring the hard and soft surfaces affected by construction. This is at no cost to the customer or resident of the construction area.
