9/16/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy have finished construction in the Olinger Boulevard project in Edina. CenterPoint Energy wants to thank the residents, business owners and customers for their patience throughout this process. Your support is greatly appreciated.​


9/2/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are restoring the hard and soft surfaces of Blake Road S. in Edina’s Olinger Boulevard project. Blake Road S. is anticipated to be open by today on Friday, September 2. Once Blake Road S. is completed, the entire Olinger Boulevard project will be done.

Any other road closures near Olinger Boulevard are being done by the city of Edina. For more information on Edina’s current construction projects, please visit the city of Edina’s Public Works website​.


8/18/2016 Update

Tracy Avenue is closed to thru traffic but open to local traffic from Colonial Way to Benton Way. A road contractor through the city of Edina is working on that project. For more information, please visit the city of Edina’s website​.

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are restoring the roads and soil along Blake Road S., which is closed to thru traffic from Vernon Avenue S. to Saxony Road until approximately the end of the week of August 22. A detour is provided for drivers, who can access Blake Road S. via Vernon Avenue S., Highwood Drive and Saxony Road.

The rest of Olinger Boulevard is finished.


8/10/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy will be finishing the Olinger Boulevard project within the next few weeks.

During the week of August 8 to 12, crews from Q3, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, will be finishing the concrete curbs and sidewalks along Blake Road S., Vernon Avenue S., Eden Prairie Road and surrounding roads that need finishing.

During the week of August 15 to 19, crews from Q3 will be paving the aforementioned roads with new blacktop.  ​


8/1/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing?

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are finishing the main gas pipe installation on Olinger Boulevard, Blake Road S. and Eden Prairie Road. They are also attaching services and completing restoration of roads and soil along the construction paths.
 
The estimated completion date for the entire Olinger Boulevard will be September 2016. Some sections may finish before others, construction pending.

Blake Road S.

Blake Road S. continues to be closed for the next two weeks. Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, opened the barricades at the intersection of Vernon Avenue S. and Blake Road S. so that residents can drive through it. If drivers are going southbound onto Blake Road S., a detour leads them from Blake Road S. to Saxony Road to Highwood Drive W. to Vernon Avenue S.
 
Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 3, the crews will tie in the existing pipe to the new pipe on Blake Road S. On Thursday, the crews plan to leave the construction site and allow crews from Q3, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, to come and restore the curb, sidewalks, driveways, blacktopping and seed work. Restoration will take approximately 1.5 weeks from the time Q3 begins their work.

Eden Prairie Road

Crews from Q3 are restoring the blacktop and concrete road on Eden Prairie Road and plan to finish by approximately August 5. They will also be restoring the curb, sidewalks, driveways, blacktopping and seed work for the next week and a half.​


7/27/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing?

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, are finishing some sections of the pipe installation in the Olinger Boulevard site. For the next few weeks, Blake Road S. and Eden Prairie Road will have lane closures for the crews to restore the curb, sidewalks and blacktop roads. The Olinger Boulevard project is scheduled to be completed in September 2016, construction pending.

Blake Road S.

Blake Road S. is closed from Vernon Avenue S. to Jeffrey Lane except to local traffic only. Residents on Jeffrey Lane, Kaymar Drive and Eden Prairie Road will still have access to and from their houses.

The crews placed a detour for drivers accessing Blake Road S.

If drivers are going southbound onto Blake Road S., the detour leads drivers from Blake Road S. to Saxony Road to Highwood Drive W. to Vernon Avenue S. Residents at the corner of Blake Road S. and Vernon Avenue S. will also have local access in between the concrete borders that the crews set up.

The detour will last approximately three weeks, construction pending. The crews will begin concrete restoration on Blake Road S. in the week of August 1.

Eden Prairie Road

Meanwhile, the crews will begin restoring the curb on Eden Prairie Road by Thursday, July 28. The concrete road restoration will begin approximately Monday, August 1, on Eden Prairie Road.​


7/20/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing?

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are continuing work along Edina’s Olinger Boulevard. The project is expected to last until approximately September 2016. During that time, some sections of the project may be complete before the other sections:

Bredesen Park

Crews from CenterPoint Energy have finished their project in Bredesen Park. The hiking trails, parking lot and entrance should be finished with restoration.

Blake Road S.

Crews on Blake Road S. are continuing to install a main gas pipeline and will be connecting the houses’ service lines to the new main. The crews are currently working from Eden Prairie Road to Knoll Drive S.
 
After the pipe is installed, crews from Q3, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, will restore the curb, sidewalk and blacktop road on Blake Road S. starting near Vernon Avenue S.
 
The curb and sidewalk are expected to be finished in the week of July 25. The blacktop road, along with any other remaining work on Blake Road S., is expected to be finished by the first week of August.
 
Blake Road S. is anticipated to be open to traffic by the first week of August. Currently, it is open to local traffic only.

Eden Prairie Road, Valley View Road, and Tracy Avenue

The crews started working east of Blake Road S. on Eden Prairie Road, which is closed except to local traffic only.
 
In the meantime, the crews are restoring the black dirt and seed on Valley View Road and Tracy Avenue. Vernon Avenue S. is open to traffic.​


7/13/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing? 

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are currently progressing in the following areas along Edina’s Olinger Boulevard. The project is expected to last until approximately September 2016. During that time, some sections of the project may be complete before the other sections:

Bredesen Park

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are finishing up their project in Bredesen Park. Currently they paved the parking lot, and they are working on re-opening and putting together the trail.

Blake Road S.

Crews are continuing to work on Blake Road S., which is closed from Vernon Avenue S. to Knoll Drive S. It is expected to remain closed until the third week of August, by which time the roads should be restored. During construction, Blake Road S. is open to local traffic only.

Eden Prairie Road and Vernon Avenue S.

Crews are also working on Eden Prairie Road and have opened it to local traffic only. The final step for Eden Prairie Road will include restoring the roads. Vernon Avenue S. is completely open.​


7/6/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are currently progressing in the following areas in Edina's Olinger Boulevard:​

In Bredesen Park, crews placed gravel in the park for temporary passage for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The trails are open, but the parking lot will have restoration during the week of July 11.

Currently the north lane of Vernon Avenue S. is closed and is expected to be opened by Friday, July 8, or early in the week of July 11. In the meantime crews are maintaining two-way traffic on Vernon Avenue S.

Beginning the week of July 4 or 11, Blake Road will be shut down for the next month from Vernon Avenue S. to Knoll Drive. It will be open to local traffic only.​



6/29/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy have finished installing the small mains and services along Olinger Boulevard in Edina. The majority of the restoration will be completed after the steel main work is done.



6/23/2016 Update

Crews are currently progressing in the following areas in Edina's Olinger Boulevard:​

Olinger Boulevard

Crews finished the blacktop road and curb on Olinger Boulevard from Colonial Way to Jeff Place.

Blake Road S.

Crews have currently shut down Blake Road S. to install a 4” main pipe between Knoll Drive S. and Vernon Avenue S. At the intersection of Blake and Vernon, crews are working on the northern westbound lane on Vernon.'

Bredesen Park

Crews are currently installing a new pipe in Bredesen Park. They’ve shut down the parking lot, bike trails, and entrance into Bredesen Park for at least two or three weeks. 


6/17/2016 Update​

Crews from CenterPoint Energy have been progressing in their work on Olinger Boulevard. The project began around April 11, 2016.
 
Currently crews are installing a 1,000' gas pipeline along Olinger Boulevard. They started on the south end on the east side of Blake Road early in the week of June 13.
 
Installing minor pipelines from the main pipeline should be near completion. Crews anticipate to be finished by the end of June 17.



6/7/2016 Update

What can you expect about Olinger Boulevard in the next few weeks?

  • Crews are installing a 24" gas pipeline along Olinger Boulevard at Jeff Place. The installation has moved from the driven road into the grass area on the east side of Bredesen Park.
  • Later in the week of 6/6 the walking and bike trails on the east side of the park will be closed for 2-3 weeks as the construction moves into the park area.

  • Blacktop restoration of Olinger Boulevard from Colonial Way to Jeff Place will take place the week of 6/6 and weather permitting should be open to normal traffic by Friday 6/10.

  • Blacktop street and path paving is also taking place on Olinger Boulevard near Vernon Avenue, and this area is also expected to be open to normal traffic the week of 6/6.

Overall, traffic will continue to be challenging in the area due to the road reconstruction of Tracy Avenue, according to the city of Edina's reconstruction project.

When the new pipeline construction progresses further into Bredesen Park over the next couple of weeks, the parking lot and street entrance to the park will eventually be closed. This closure is expected to happen mid-June, and will be clarified in upcoming updates.


 

5/4/2016 Update

What can residents and commuters anticipate in the coming weeks for the Edina West construction project?

  • Olinger Boulevard, from Vernon Avenue S. to Sherman Circle's easterly entrance, will remain closed through mid-June. Residents can access Sherman Circle from the east off Olinger Boulevard or Olinger Road.
  • Olinger Boulevard, from Tracy Avenue to just east of Colonial Way, will be closed to through traffic through the end of next week, weather permitting. Access maintained for local residents only.
  • Beginning late next week or early the following week, the intersection of Olinger Boulevard and Colonial Way will be closed for approximately one week. During this time, residents will be asked to access their homes from Tracy Avenue. Access to The Waters of Edina and Colonial Church will be maintained through Colonial Way.
  • Beginning the week of May 16, traffic traveling along Vernon Avenue S. will encounter lane shifts through the end of the month as crews install pipeline across the Olinger Boulevard/Vernon Avenue S. intersection.
  • As a reminder, the City of Edina will begin reconstruction along Tracy Avenue the week of May 16.

4/26/2016 Update

For the past few weeks, access to Sherman Circle has been maintained from the west off Vernon Avenue.

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, April 27, Olinger Boulevard will close from Vernon Avenue to just west of Sherman Circles easterly access.

Residents located along Sherman Circle will need to enter and exit from the east off Olinger Boulevard and Olinger Road.

Olinger Boulevard will continue to be closed to through traffic but access to Sherman Circle will be maintained.

Please anticipate this traffic control to be implemented through mid-June.

4/20/2016 Update

Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, April 21, the current Tracy Avenue closure will be extended from Valley View Road to Benton Avenue.

Please continue to follow the posted detour to Highway 62, Gleason Road and Vernon Avenue.

For local traffic only: Residents traveling northbound or southbound on Tracy Avenue will be detoured to Valley View Road, Hanson Road and Benton Avenue.

All cross streets off of Tracy Avenue will be closed.   

Please anticipate this closure to continue through the summer. After CenterPoint Energy completes their portion of work, the City of Edina will begin total reconstruction of the road.


 

​4/8/2016 Update

Crew from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin a four month long project along various streets in western Edina on Monday, April 11.

On Monday, April 11, residents and commuters can anticipate two crews to start at two locations.

Location 1: Tracy Avenue

  • Crews will begin installing 24-inch natural gas pipeline northwards along the west side of Tracy Avenue, from Valley View Road to Hillside Road, for three to four weeks.
  • After the 24-inch pipeline is installed, a second crew will arrive onsite to install 12-inch pipeline and service line replacements. Please note that after CenterPoint Energy's construction is complete, the City of Edina will begin total reconstruction of the road.
  • Tracy Avenue, from Valley View Road to Hillside Road will be closed to through traffic. Access will be maintained to local residents only. Please follow the posted detour.

Location 2: Olinger Boulevard

  • Crews will begin installing 24-inch natural gas pipeline westwards along the south side of Olinger Boulevard, from Olinger Road to Sherman Circle, for three weeks.
  • Olinger Boulevard, from Olinger Road to Sherman Circle, will be closed to through traffic. Access will be maintained to local residents only. Please follow the posted detour.
