8/11/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing on Normandale Road?

Beginning approximately August 15 and lasting until about September 23, Normandale Road will have construction from Nob Hill Drive to the ramp coming from Highway 100. The construction will include upgrading the new 24-inch pipe and restoring the curbs, sidewalks and blacktop road.

What will this mean for drivers?

During those weeks, drivers can still access Normandale Road in a single lane. From Nob Hill Drive, drivers can make a left or right turn onto Normandale Road. Crews from CenterPoint Energy will be alternating the lanes as needed and will place a Yield sign for drivers yielding to those coming off Highway 100.
A detour will take drivers north on Normandale Road, right (eastbound) onto W. 66th Street, and southbound on W. Shore Drive. (See map for details.)

What lanes will be closed on W. 70th Street?

In addition to Normandale Road, W. 70th Street will have a lane closure from Normandale Road west of Highway 100 to Normandale Road east of Highway 100. (See map for detail.)
  • The right lane going westbound from almost the entrance to the Christ Presbyterian Church’s parking lot to the right-turn lane onto Normandale Road’s ramp toward Highway 100 will be closed, but drivers can still access Normandale Road going north from W. 70th Street.
  • The right-turn lane onto Normandale Road will be closed but the left lane going west toward Highway 100 will be open.
  • The left-turn lane from Normandale Road west of Highway 100 will also be closed.

The entrances to Christ Presbyterian Church’s parking lots will remain open.

8/3/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing for construction?

Crews from MN Limited, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, will be upgrading 3,300 feet of 24-inch natural gas pipeline along the west side of Normandale Road (west of Highway 100) between W. 66th Street and W. 70th Street, and also along W. 70th Street (see Map of Construction for detail).

What will this mean for residents and businesses?

Construction is expected to begin approximately August 15, 2016, and will last until about September 23, 2016. During construction, the crews will be reducing traffic on Normandale Road to single lanes between W. 66th Street and W. 70th Street. No detour will be necessary, since there will be no total lane closures in this project. The areas disturbed by our construction activity will be restored in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
