Project Status - Edina East/Richfield - W. 76th Street and York Avenue S.
Crews from CenterPoint Energy have finished their construction along W. 76th Street between York Avenue S. and Penn Avenue S. in Edina. The city of Richfield resumed construction to complete paving on W. 76th Street.

Crews from CenterPoint Energy have installed the natural gas distribution main on W. 76th Street and have been finishing their project there between York Avenue S. and Penn Avenue S. The city of Richfield will take over the remaining work, which includes restoring the roads.
What is CenterPoint Energy doing?
Starting this Monday, August 15, crews from CenterPoint Energy will be upgrading about 150 feet of 24-inch gas pipe along the northern side of W. 76th Street between York Avenue and Thomas Avenue S.
Currently, the westbound lane on W. 76th Street is closed between York Avenue S. and Penn Avenue S. Beginning August 15, both the eastbound and westbound lanes on W. 76th Street will remain closed until approximately September 2 before Labor Day.
What does this mean for residents or business owners?
All the residential intersections along W. 76th Street between York and Penn are also closed, per the city of Richfield’s requirement to ensure safety in the neighborhood and to relieve congested traffic along W. 76th Street.
Residents in the Yorkdale Townhomes will be given access to and from their homes via the entrance on W. 76th Street.
CenterPoint Energy’s detour will lead drivers from W. 76th Street southward to American Boulevard W. via York Avenue S. or Penn Avenue S. Residents can also use W. 78th Street as a detour.
Where, when and what is CenterPoint Energy doing?In preparation for a city of Richfield project, crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, will be installing approximately 150 feet of 24-inch natural gas pipe in the Edina East/Richfield neighborhood on W. 76th Street between York Avenue S. and Thomas Avenue S.
The project will start August 8, 2016, and will last until approximately September 10, 2016. By September 10, crews from CenterPoint Energy will leave the site and allow the city of Richfield to resume construction for a mill-and-overlay project.
What will this mean for residents or business owners in Edina East?
There will be a full closure on W. 76th Street except to local traffic. The residents and business owners along the site will have access to and from their homes during construction.

Which lanes will be closed?
- Starting August 8, one northbound lane will be closed on York Avenue S.
- Starting August 8, the westbound lane on W. 76th Street will be closed from York Avenue S. to Penn Avenue S.
- The eastbound lane on W. 76th Street will be closed on August 26 from York Avenue S. to Penn Avenue S., depending on when the northbound lane on York Avenue S. will be opened.
