What is CenterPoint Energy doing for construction?Crews from CenterPoint Energy have been replacing an existing natural gas pipeline in Chaska since the week of April 10, 2017. Project construction is expected to last until the week of May 12, 2017. (Any changes in project dates will be noted on CenterPoint Energy’s website.) Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, has been installing natural gas mains along the southern eastbound curb lane of Chaska Boulevard (County Road 61) at the corner of Edgehill Road. (See map below.)
Traffic may be shifted where active construction is occurring, but Chaska Boulevard will not be entirely closed. The lane restrictions are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe.
This construction will happen in two phases:
- Phase 1 is installing the natural gas distribution main.
- Phase 2 is restoring the areas affected by construction—typically the utility easement, the street, and the customer’s yard.
