Project Status - Brooklyn Park - Aster Drive N.
Crews from CenterPoint Energy have finished construction on the Aster Drive N. project in Brooklyn Park. The crews finished installing the main gas pipe in the second week of July. In the week of August 15, they finished connecting all residential gas services to the main pipe.
Restoration has been called in for restoring the hard and soft surfaces, including curb, sidewalk, blacktop road and soil affected by construction.

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are progressing on the Aster Drive N. project in Minneapolis. They finished installing the main gas pipe and have been connecting the gas service lines from the residential houses to the main gas pipe.
- On August 4, the crews will start on Aster Drive N. from Xylon Avenue N. to Winnetka Avenue N. and finish roughly within a week.
- After Winnetka Avenue N., the crews will work from Winnetka Avenue N. to W. Broadway Avenue until roughly August 19.
- By Monday, August 8, the crews will be finished on 65th Avenue N.
The crews plan to finish connecting all the services by about August 26. Meanwhile, the restoration crews are working behind the service crews. Whenever the services are done on a street, the restoration crews come to restore the blacktop, concrete and soil for that street.

Currently the crews are working on 65th Avenue N. going west from W. Broadway Avenue. The final restoration of the roads will take place after the service lines are completed.

The next phase of the project will include connecting the residential service lines to the main gas pipe. The final restoration of the roads will take place after the service lines are completed.
Today on July 15, crews from CenterPoint Energy began installing the main gas pipe in the Aster Drive N. neighborhood of Brooklyn Park. They are currently on Quebec Avenue N. working their way southward to Aster Drive N.
Crews anticipate that the main pipe will be installed in about two weeks. By that time, the pipe will be installed in the streets of Aster Drive N., Wyoming Avenue N., Sumter Drive N., Quebec Drive N., Iris Drive N. and 65th Avenue N.
What is CenterPoint Energy doing?
As a system upgrade project, Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will replace approximately 6,366 feet of various diameter plastic and steel pipe with 6,439 feet of 2-inch and 4-inch plastic pipe. The work will also include the replacement of approximately 45 natural gas service lines.
Where and when will construction happen?
The work will take place along Aster Drive N., Wyoming Avenue N., Sumter Drive N., Quebec Drive N., Iris Drive N. and 65th Avenue N. Construction is expected to begin the week of July 11, 2016, and will require approximately two months to complete the work.
