10/24/2016 Update

Construction is finished on the Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N. project in Brooklyn Center/Brooklyn Park. Crews from MN Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, finished installing the new natural gas mains, connecting the natural gas service lines, and restoring the areas affected by construction. CenterPoint Energy wants to thank the residents and customers for their patience during the construction season.​


10/18/2016 Update

Crews from MN Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, are nearing completion on the Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N. project in Brooklyn Center/Brooklyn Park. They finished installing the natural gas distribution and transmission pipes and connecting the natural gas service lines to the new main, which extends along 69th Avenue N. from Zane Avenue N. to Highway 252 and Dallas Road.

The final step is restoring the hard and soft surfaces at the intersection of Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N. The crews estimate that the entire Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N. project will be done by about Friday, October 21. By then, the crews plan to remove the safety barriers at the intersection of Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N.

10/11/2016 Update

Crews from MN Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, have finished the installation of the natural gas distribution and transmission pipes along 69th Avenue N. from Zane Avenue N. to Highway 252 and Dallas Road.

The final step includes restoring the hard and soft surfaces at the intersection of Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N. The northbound right-turn lane on Brooklyn Boulevard to eastbound 69th Avenue N. will be closed until approximately the last week of October.

9/29/2016 Update

Crews for CenterPoint Energy will be finishing the Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N. beltline project within the week of October 10 or 17. Below is the anticipated schedule, which is subject to change based on weather or construction:

Monday, October 3, to Tuesday, October 4
  • MN Limited, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will complete final construction on Brooklyn Boulevard.
Wednesday, October 5 to Saturday, October 8
  • The crews will begin removing equipment and restoring the hard surfaces affected by construction, including the curb and asphalt surfaces.
Sunday, October 9
  • ​The crews will remove all traffic control on Brooklyn Boulevard other than the northbound east-turn lane onto 69th Avenue N. The crews will utilize this lane to complete the hard surface restoration commencing October 10.


9/28/2016 Update

Crews from Q3, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, have been restoring the hard and soft surfaces affected by construction on 69th Avenue N. between Zane Avenue N. and Highway 252 after the installation of the large-diameter ​transmission main.

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, are installing the final portions of the small-diameter distribution main. They have been working on the intersection of 69th Avenue N. and Brooklyn Boulevard. Currently the intersection is open to traffic except for the right-turn lane going east onto 69th Avenue N. The crews anticipate another three weeks of construction, including restoration.

In addition to the work on 69th Avenue N., crews from CenterPoint Energy have been working on an extension going onto 68th Avenue N., which is anticipated to be finished by mid-October with both the installation of the natural gas distribution main and restoration of hard and soft surfaces. 9/13/2016 Update

CenterPoint Energy’s contractor has completed the natural gas transmission main installation along 69th Avenue N. beltline project. At this time 69th Avenue N. from Zane Avenue N. to Highway 252 is fully open to traffic. (See map below.)

Brooklyn Boulevard pipe installation

  • ​Phase 1: Crews are installing natural gas distribution main across Brooklyn Boulevard both north of and south of 69th Avenue N. Currently under Phase 1, the easterly northbound lane is closed and will remain closed through the weekend.
  • Phase 2: Crews will begin Phase 2 sometime between Monday, September 19, and Wednesday, September 21. This phase will reduce traffic to one lane northbound on Brooklyn Boulevard and will take one to two days to complete.
  • Phase 3: Crews will begin Phase 3 upon the completion of Phase 2 and will complete the crossing of northbound Brooklyn Boulevard. During Phase 2 the westerly northbound lane will be closed.

Brooklyn Boulevard will be fully open to traffic mid to late week during the week of September 26.

Beginning during the week of September 19, crews will be upgrading additional footage of pipe along 68th Avenue N. CSAH 81 to Adair Avenue N. The project link is included on a separate page for more information​. That extension is expected to finish by approximately October 31.


9/9/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are progressing on the 69th Avenue N. beltline project in Brooklyn Center/Brooklyn Park. Beginning Monday, September 12, the crews will be working on the south side of 69th Avenue N. from Georgia Avenue N. to Jersey Avenue N. Although there will be no total lane closures, the crews will shift traffic to the north side of 69th Avenue N. and maintain two-way traffic.

During this phase of the project, 69th Avenue N. will be restricted to one lane. A crewman will direct daytime traffic heading east or west, alternating the directions between about 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. After 5:00 p.m., the crews will lift traffic control for the night and resume control in the morning. The sidewalks will also remain open on the north side of 69th Avenue N. during this phase of construction.


8/29/2016 Update

The traffic plans for the 69th Avenue N. project in Brooklyn Center / Brooklyn Park remain the same from August 17. Below are the only few changes for the east side of Brooklyn Boulevard on 69th Avenue N., which started on August 26 and will continue until the middle of the week of August 29: 

  • Westbound traffic will be down to one lane of traffic approaching the traffic lights. 
  • Eastbound traffic will be down to one lane of traffic on the east side of the intersection. 
  • ​The northbound right-hand turn lane from Brooklyn Boulevard to 69th Avenue N. will be reopened. 


8/17/2016 Update

​Below is a list of all the streets along 69th Avenue N. in Brooklyn Center/ Brooklyn Park that have updates:

69th Avenue N. between Quail Avenue N. and Brooklyn Boulevard

  • There is one lane of traffic in each direction during non-working hours.
  • During working hours traffic is being flagged for both directions with only one lane open.
  • Orchard Avenue N. and Noble Avenue N. are closed at 69th Avenue N.

69th Avenue N. east of Brooklyn Boulevard

  • South, eastbound traffic lane is closed up to Halifax Avenue N.
  • There is one eastbound traffic lane still open.

Brooklyn Boulevard and 69th Avenue N.

  • Traffic control on Brooklyn Blvd will be removed Friday, August 19.
  • East, northbound traffic lane and right turn lane is closed.

69th Avenue N. from Oliver Avenue N. to Humboldt Avenue N.

  • Road is closed.
  • Resident Access only.
  • Detour is in place.

69th Avenue N. and Humboldt Avenue N. (Beginning August 23)

  • Northbound traffic will be able to turn east and west on 69th Avenue N., but will not be able to continue north through 69th Avenue N.
  • There will be no southbound traffic allowed through 69th Avenue N. and Humboldt Avenue N.
  • Detours will be in place.
  • East and westbound traffic will be shifted, but will have one lane in each direction.​


8/12/2016 Update

What has CenterPoint Energy done so far?

Currently, all the residential houses along 69th Avenue N. have been connected to the new distribution pipe which feeds gas to the houses from Zane Avenue N. to Dallas Road by Highway 252 (see map for detail).

This Wednesday, August 10, crews from MN Limited, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, installed a transmission vault at the corner of 69th Avenue N. and Brooklyn Boulevard. The vault ensures that high-pressure gas will be distributed among the businesses and locations along 69th Avenue N. (see map for details on the new transmission and distribution pipes).

What are the CenterPoint Energy crews now?

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are continuing to install the transmission pipe west and east from Brooklyn Boulevard, one block at a time.

Westbound from Brooklyn Boulevard to Noble Avenue N., all the streets are open.

  • Currently the crews working at Orchard Avenue N. and Perry Avenue N. and have closed the westbound lane on 69th Avenue N.
  • The work on the westbound pipe should be done by about the week of August 22 or 29.
Eastbound from Brooklyn Boulevard, the crews finished all the streets up to Humboldt Avenue N.

  • Along 69th Avenue N., the intersections are closed by Newton Avenue N., Morgan Avenue N. and Logan Avenue N., but residents can still access those streets. Between Newton Avenue N. and just before Humboldt Avenue N., there is a single lane on 69th Avenue N.
  • In the week of August 15 or 22, construction pending, the crews will be working at the intersection of Humboldt Avenue and 69th Avenue N.
  • ​They will close one eastbound and one westbound lane on 69th Avenue N., and both the northbound and southbound lanes on Humboldt Avenue N.
The project at the intersection is expected to take roughly one and a half weeks.

By Palmer Lake along 69th Avenue N., the crews are restoring the soil and grass along the curb. ​



7/27/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing?

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are working on 69th Avenue N. in Brooklyn Center/Brooklyn Park as they continue to install new gas pipes and restore the roads.

For the week of July 25, the lane closures will remain the same as the previous week. The restoration crews are working on two blocks at a time, staying behind the installation crews.

Where are the crews working now?

Restoration on 69th Avenue N. from Toledo Avenue N. to Regent Avenue N. will start this Thursday, July 28.​ The crews will open 69th Avenue N. from Shingle Creek Boulevard to Oliver Avenue N. in the week of August 1. 

What did the crews finish so far?

From France Avenue N. to Brooklyn Boulevard, the soft surface restoration is done.

Meanwhile, the crews working near Palmer Lake Park are expected to finish restoration by approximately next Monday, August 1. ​


7/20/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are working on 69th Avenue N. heading eastbound toward Humboldt Avenue N. They are closing one intersection at a time, starting with Oliver Avenue N.

Currently 69th Avenue N. is closed between Shingle Creek Parkway and Oliver Avenue N. The main road work will be complete the week of July 18 to 22. Afterward, the crews will restore the curb on July 22 and the blacktop on July 25.

Also, the crews will be installing a gas pipe from Toledo Avenue N. eastbound toward Brooklyn Boulevard. The crews will be excavating Brooklyn Boulevard which should take about three to four weeks. ​


7/12/2016 Update

What is CenterPoint Energy doing?

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are continuing to work on 69th Avenue N. in Brooklyn Center/Brooklyn Park. Currently the project is having work done between Shingle Creek Parkway and Humboldt Avenue N.

What lanes will CenterPoint Energy be closing?

Crews from MN Limited, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, are closing 69th Avenue N. between Shingle Creek Parkway and Oliver Avenue N. Meanwhile, 69th Avenue N. remains open for residents between Oliver Avenue N. and Humboldt Avenue N. ​


6/28/2016 Update

What streets will CenterPoint Energy have construction on?

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor from CenterPoint Energy, will be working on 69th Avenue N. starting at Toledo Avenue N. working their way east to Perry Avenue N. This is the first phase of Michels’ traffic control.

Will there be lane closures?

Since work will be done on the south side of 69th Avenue N., traffic on 69th Avenue N. will be shifted to the north. Two-way traffic will be maintained. The sidewalk will be closed on the south side of 69th Avenue N. and will remain open on the north side.

The second phase will reach from Perry Avenue N. to Brooklyn Boulevard.​


6/23/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are working on 69th Avenue N. in Brooklyn Center. The following streets intersect with 69th Avenue N.:
 
  • Between France Avenue N. and Beard Avenue N., 69th Avenue N. is closed and should reopen by Friday, July 1.
 
  • East of Humboldt Avenue N. will have a lane shift on the north side of the road until approximately July 15.
 
  • ​East of Bryant Avenue N. will have work continuing at the dead end road until July 15. All residents have access to their driveways. 


6/10/2016 Update​

Crews from CenterPoint Energy are working on 69th Avenue N. from France Avenue N. to Ewing Avenue N. in Brooklyn Center.

Currently they closed the sidewalk from France Avenue N. to east of Ewing Avenue N. and closed the southeast bound lane of 69th Avenue N.

After the smaller pipelines are installed, the crews will begin intersection work at Grimes Avenue, Halifax Avenue and Indiana Avenue which is scheduled to be completed on Monday, June 13.

On Tuesday, June 14, the crews will work on France Avenue north of 69th Avenue N. There will be a lane shift west to complete this work which will be done by the end of the day.

Weather permitting the crews will replace and install a new 8" steel pipeline from France to Brooklyn Boulevard beginning June 15 or 16. The south lane of the eastbound lanes of 69th Avenue N. will be closed. This work should take 1 to 2 weeks.


6/6/2016 Update

Crews from CenterPoint Energy have closed off 69th Avenue N. between Humboldt Avenue N. and Highway 252 near Camden Avenue N. Both directions going east and west are closed off. Installing pipework will take about two or three weeks and restoration will take an additional week. 


A detour will direct drivers onto 69th Avenue N. through Dupont Avenue N. There is also local access onto 69th Avenue N. by driving through the residential section of the neighborhood.​​


5/13/2016 Update

On May 22, crews will be working along Brooklyn Boulevard.

For one day, on May 22, Brooklyn Boulevard between 68th Avenue N. and 69th Avenue N. will have lane closures. The easternmost southbound lane will be closed. The two westernmost northbound lanes will also be closed. The sidewalk on the west side of Brooklyn Boulevard will be closed as well.

Traffic along 69th Avenue N. will be maintained throughout the duration of the construction project. Please drive slowly and with caution in the areas of construction.


5/6/2016 Update

Next week, crews from MN Limited LLC., an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will be working between Zane Avenue N. and Toledo Avenue N. along 69th Avenue N.

From 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 69th Avenue N. will be reduced to one lane. Flaggers will be onsite maintaining traffic flow in both directions. During non-work hours, there will be one lane of traffic in both directions.

The second crew onsite from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will be working between Humbdolt Avenue N. and Dupont Avenue N. through next Tuesday, May 10, weather permitting.

This crew will then jump to Noble Avenue N., working between Brooklyn Boulevard and 71st Avenue N. through the end of next week. Please anticipate the east sidewalk to be closed in this area.

Traffic along 69th Avenue N. will be maintained throughout the duration of the construction project. Please drive slowly and with caution in the areas of construction. Thank you.


4​/21/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, are now installing pipeline westwards along the north side of 69th Avenue N. to just west of Zane Avenue N. through early next week.

The north sidewalk is closed between Zane Avenue N. and Toledo Avenue N.

Beginning Monday, April 25, crews from MN Limited LLC., an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will begin installing 24-inch pipeline along the south side of 69th Avenue N. between Toledo Avenue N. and Zane Avenue N. Crews anticipate working in this area for the following six weeks.

Traffic along 69th Avenue N. will be maintained throughout the duration of the construction project. Please drive slowly and with caution in the areas of construction. Thank you. 


4/12/2016 Update

Crew from Michels Corporation and MN Limited LLC., two authorized CenterPoint Energy contractors, will begin a four and a half month long project along 69th Avenue N. in Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center on Thursday, April 14.

On Thursday, April 14, residents and commuters near 69th Avenue N. can anticipate crews from Michels Corporation to begin construction near the west end of the project in front of North View Middle School.

Crews will begin installing pipeline just west of the schools easternmost entrance and move eastwards along the south side of 69th Avenue N. to just west of Presbyterian Homes and Services easternmost entrance near Toledo Avenue N. 

Crews anticipate working three to four days for this section.

Early to mid-next week, crews will bore northwards underneath 69th Avenue N. to just west of Unity Avenue N. Crews will then work their way westwards along the north side of 69th Avenue N. towards Zane Avenue N.  

Please anticipate sidewalk closures between Zane Avenue N. and Toledo Avenue N. Two way traffic will be maintained in both directions along 69th Avenue N.​
