Repair Plan Terms & Conditions

Conditions of your Home Service Plus Repair Plan

  1. This contract applies to one single family residence per agreement.
  2. Appliances and equipment must meet code requirements and be in operating condition at the time program service begins. CenterPoint Energy must have safe access to and safe working conditions at and around the appliances and equipment.
  3. CenterPoint Energy shall not be responsible for charges for service or parts you have others provide.
  4. CenterPoint Energy may not be able to make certain repairs due to non-availability of parts from its regular parts suppliers, which include several major parts distributors. Non-availability can result from parts no longer being manufactured. The likelihood of parts being unavailable is greater with older appliances. CenterPoint Energy also reserves the right to restrict specific makes of equipment from eligibility due to non-availability of parts. The choice of parts to be used shall be at the discretion of CenterPoint Energy.
  5. CenterPoint Energy reserves the right not to repair the appliance and recommend replacement by you when the cost of repairing your old furnace or appliance exceeds its replacement value. As a Repair Plan customer you are eligible for a discount on the purchase of a replacement furnace or appliance sold by CenterPoint Energy Heating and Cooling Sales.
  6. CenterPoint Energy is not responsible for direct damages, consequential damages (indirect losses or injuries), illness or injury caused by delays, failure to service, unavailability of parts, labor difficulties and other conditions beyond its control. CenterPoint Energy may, at its discretion, use qualified contractors to fulfill all or any part of its obligation under the terms of this agreement. In the event we are unable to provide service due to factors beyond our control, customers may submit invoices for covered repairs completed by other providers for reimbursement by CenterPoint Energy.
  7. Program service does not cover any material, parts and labor required as the result of abuse, vandalism, fire, freezing, acts of God, power or water supply outages, flooded cellars other than main sewer back-ups (if coverage has been selected), or other abnormal conditions. CenterPoint Energy will not be required to perform program services until any asbestos hazard is eliminated and CenterPoint Energy determines, at its discretion, that no hazard exists.
  8. To assure continued protection, the contract will be automatically renewed at the end of 12 months at regular prices unless cancelled by you or CenterPoint Energy. CenterPoint Energy or you may cancel this contract at that time by giving written notice to the other. Coverage on all optional appliances will be automatically renewed on your basic Repair Plan contract anniversary date.
  9. You are purchasing the plan for one full year. For your convenience, if you move from the covered residence during the term of program service, your Repair Plan contract will be transferred to your new address, if it is within our repair service territory. When you transfer your account, your Repair Plan anniversary date will be adjusted, with the 12-month term beginning on your transfer date.
  10. If payments are missed or late, CenterPoint Energy may demand immediate payment of the entire amount you owe or immediate payment of the cost (labor and parts), of all service provided to you less any payments made by you to CenterPoint Energy. If you request cancellation of your Repair Plan prior to your anniversary date, you will be responsible for the full retail value of any contract repairs we have completed for you, less any Repair Plan payments you have made, during the contract year. The retail value of repairs will be determined based on our labor rates and parts prices.
  11. Inspections and routine preventive maintenance are not covered by the Home Service Plus Repair Plan but are available at an extra charge.
  12. Parts not shown in the coverage chart and related labor are not covered.

Conditions of your Main Drain Sewer coverage plan:

  1. CenterPoint Energy Main Drain Sewer Coverage Plan provides unclogging of your main sewer drain line from your basement cleanout, under your lawn, toward the street up to 100 feet. Unclogging of waste and vent areas or other services are available at additional cost. Your main sewer line must meet code requirements and be in operating condition at time program service begins.
  2. Cleaning your main cleanout when no clogging or problem exists, up to 100 feet or 75 minutes, is available with our Main Drain Sewer Line Preventive Maintenance for $169.95.
  3. CenterPoint Energy Main Drain Sewer Coverage Plan is a contract which applies to one single family residence per agreement and covers one sewer line per household. Additional contracts can be purchased at the current option price. All contracts are valid for one year.
  4. Main Drain Sewer Services are available only to single family homes on municipal sewer systems in the Twin Cities Metro area.
  5. Main Drain Sewer Services do not cover any materials, parts and labor required as the result of abuse, vandalism, fire, freezing, acts of God, power or water supply outages, flooded cellars other than main sewer back-ups (if coverage has been selected), or other abnormal conditions.
  6. CenterPoint Energy is not responsible for broken, settled, rusted or deteriorated lines, pipes, fixtures, or cleanouts or any damage resulting from cleaning such main sewer equipment.
  7. The work performed by CenterPoint Energy will include professional drain and sewer cleaning methods which do not include excavation. If it is found during the cleaning process that the drainage tile or any lines being serviced are settled, broken, deteriorated, damaged, or of such construction or condition as to make it inadvisable, in the opinion of CenterPoint Energy, to clean the line safely and properly, CenterPoint Energy will not be held responsible. In the event any of these conditions are identified, we will notify you of this fact and cancel your coverage. Coverage will be reinstated, and any cleaning that was in process will be completed once we receive documentation verifying that your sewer line has been repaired. Any repairs to the lines will be done by you at your expense.
  8. CenterPoint Energy is not responsible for damage to your premises caused by the removal of the cleanout, drain cover, or cap which is removed in the process of servicing the lines. If it is found that the cleanout drain cover or cap is so rusted that it needs replacement, CenterPoint Energy will replace the cap at an additional charge. CenterPoint Energy is not responsible for any damage resulting from sewer gas, back-ups or leakage through the cover, cap or opening of the drain lid.
  9. CenterPoint Energy will use qualified contractors to fulfill its obligations for Main Drain Sewer Coverage and Sewer Line Preventive Maintenance.
  10. CenterPoint Energy reserves the right to schedule Main Drain Preventive Maintenance based on workflow and available specialists.
