Commercial Engineering Programs

CenterPoint Energy has a variety of design/engineering programs available.  If your customers are considering making energy-efficiency design improvements to their facilities, contact your trade ally representative or technical sales engineer for details on these programs and how they can help customers save energy and money.

Engineering Assistance: This program provides funding to commercial and Industrial customers for a portion of engineering fees assessed by consulting firms for the study, design and installation of qualifying energy-efficiency projects.  Qualifying project types include (but are not limited to) central heating plants and process equipment.  Customers may qualify for up to $5,000 incentive up-front to offset the cost of the engineering fees.  Customers may also be eligible for up to an additional $5,000 incentive if qualifying energy-efficient natural gas technologies are installed as a result of the technical recommendations.  CenterPoint Energy pre-approval of the study and funding is required prior to study commencement.

Recommissioning Program:  A Recommissioning Study helps CenterPoint Energy customers identify low-cost and no-cost energy-saving measures that, when implemented, will reduce operating costs and improve the efficiency of existing mechanical systems in their commercial buildings.  CenterPoint Energy will provide funding to our customers to offset a portion of the study costs for a third-party study provider to identify the energy savings measures.  Funding levels are dependent upon projected gas savings potential at the facility.  Funding provided by the customer’s electric utility does not disqualify the customer from applying for additional gas-related funding through CenterPoint Energy.  CenterPoint Energy will also rebate qualifying implemented gas-saving measures.  Pre-approval of the study and funding is required by CenterPoint Energy prior to study commencement.

Energy Design Assistance (EDA): This assistance program encourages building owners, architects and engineers to incorporate energy-efficient systems and equipment in their design, new construction or major renovation projects.  The program encourages greater design team cooperation and integrated building system analysis, resulting in more efficient buildings.  EDA is available to all qualifying CenterPoint Energy commercial customers and is provided collaboratively with the customer’s electric utility participating in EDA delivered by The Weidt Group.

Process Efficiency Program: This program is designed for large industrial customers that use natural gas for manufacturing processes.  It approaches each facility as a distinct system, and offers comprehensive, in-depth approaches to energy savings by helping customers identify and overcome barriers to achieving energy conservation.  The program is delivered in three phases, often over the course of several months or years, along with financial support at each step: 1) identification of energy-saving opportunities, 2) defining the scope and recommendations for improvements, and 3) implementing selected energy-saving measures.  Financial support covers study funding as well as rebates for both prescriptive measures and custom projects.
