For a small convenience fee, CenterPoint Energy customers can pay by credit card or electronic check payments at anytime using BillMatrix, a third-party, secure, automated bill payment system.

Here's how BillMatrix payment works

You do not need to sign up for this service in advance. CenterPoint Energy offers the BillMatrix payment option to use whenever you wish. BillMatrix charges a convenience fee of $3.95 for each payment transaction and lists its terms and conditions before it prompts you to enter your payment. CenterPoint Energy does not receive any portion of these fees.

You can pay your bill by calling BillMatrix at 1-800-960-2271 or by going to the BillMatrix Web site.

Have the following information ready:

1. Your full CenterPoint Energy account number as it appears on your most recent bill, without spaces or the dash.
2. Your credit/debit card or a blank check
3. The dollar amount you wish to pay

• Once the transaction is complete, you will receive a six-digit authorization confirmation code.
• Payments made by 6 p.m. will post to your CenterPoint Energy account the following business day. Payments made after 6 p.m. will take two business days.

FREE Online Billing: CenterPoint Energy also offers a FREE Online Billing service to customers who wish to pay their bill from their checking or savings account each month.
