2013 Whole Home New Construction Program

Overview 

CenterPoint Energy’s Whole Home New Construction program is your pathway to energy efficient construction. The program uses cutting edge energy modeling software to evaluate energy use across multiple elements of the home’s design and construction. Site visits at key intervals ensure construction techniques maximize the home’s energy saving potential. Detailed reporting allows your project managers to evaluate progress and standardize best practices.

  • Builder participation fees are 100 percent covered by CenterPoint Energy
  • Site visits are detailed and consultative
  • Scheduling accommodates your building timeline

Program Benefits

A building science consultant will conduct onsite inspections and testing, providing quality control during the construction process that leads to a healthier, more energy-efficient and durable home. An unbiased extra set of eyes inspecting the home will result in reduced call backs and greater customer satisfaction. Selling energy-efficient homes tested by a third party will allow you to differentiate yourself from the competition and provide you with a unique marketing advantage.

Energy Modeling Software Site visits

Evaluates multiple factors of the building design including:

  • Foundation
  • Slab
  • Above grade walls
  • Rim joist
  • Windows and doors
  • Ceilings
  • Heating system, water heater, air conditioner
  • Building orientation
  • And more!

Expert consultation at three intervals to track best practices and potential building code issues:

Framing site visit

  • Occurs after framing, before insulation
  • Issues can be addressed before construction continues

Insulation site visit

  • Occurs after insulating, before sheetrocking
  • Issues can be addressed before construction continues

Final testing site visit

  • Blower door test
  • Duct leakage test
  • Infrared scanning
  • Equipment verification
Reports 

Framing, insulation and final testing site visit reports include:
