Public Utility Commission Reports
CNP reports to Texas PUC monthly

In December 2008, CenterPoint Energy, Inc.’s electric transmission and distribution subsidiary, CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, received approval from the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) to deploy an advanced metering system (AMS) across its service territory over a five-year period from March 2009 until 2014 (A Smart Grid Investment grant from the U.S. Dept. of Energy will accelerate completion of the project to mid to late 2012).

CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric will provide monthly progress reports to the PUC, including the following:

  • list of ESI IDs with advanced meters;
  • records of advanced meter failure and repair rates and costs incurred as a result of those failures and repairs, net of related warranty payments;
  • status of achieving its commitment to support prepaid service;
  • status of the security audit of common AMS web portal requirements;
  • status of the security audit pursuant to P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.130(j)(3);
  • low-income in-home monitors program; and
  • efforts to pursue funding available under the Energy Independence and Security Act.

At least quarterly, CEHE will report on:

  • customer education efforts
