Yes. In order for qualified low-income consumers to be able to take advantage of some of the benefits of smart meters, CenterPoint Energy has committed to spend $7.5 million. As part of this commitment, the company intends to provide qualified low-income consumers, either directly or through a third party, an in-home device that will give these consumers the ability to directly monitor their electricity usage.
