CenterPoint Energy, Bellaire partner on "Right Tree Trail" March 26
Volunteers to plant "power line friendly" trees in Loftin Park

Plant the right tree in the right placeCenterPoint Energy and the City of Bellaire are partnering to promote planting the ‘Right Tree in the Right Place’ by planting 12 trees at Loftin Park that can grow to maturity without coming into contact with overhead power lines and disrupting electric service.

On Friday, March 26, Community volunteers will plant power line-friendly trees with assistance from foresters with CenterPoint Energy and the City of Bellaire Parks and Recreation Department. The planting and a short presentation will take place from 8 – 10 a.m.

Trees planted in the wrong place or left to grow unmanaged can cause power outages and electrical safety hazards. Houston-area residents need to pay close attention and plant trees that can grow to their fullest potential without interfering with overhead power lines. A series of permanent education panels will show safe planting distances away from power lines and appropriate tree sizes.

Loftin Park is located at 7008 Fifth Street, near the intersection of Fifth and Laurel streets.
