Current Position: executive vice president and president, Gas Division. In this role, his organization includes Gas Operations, Customer Service, Marketing and Sales, CenterPoint Energy Services (CES), Corporate Communications and Community Relations.
Previous Positions: Joe began his career with the company in 1979 and held a variety of positions in accounting, corporate budget, strategic management, corporate planning, and rates and research, before being named treasurer in 1993. In 1996, he was named treasurer and vice president of Planning and Policy Development. Joe was named vice president, Operations for the company's international business in 1997. He held that position until 2000, when he was named senior vice president, Finance and Administration for the company's retail group. In 2001, he was named vice president of Strategic Planning for CenterPoint Energy. He became senior vice president Finance and Regulatory, in December 2005 and became division president of Gas Operations in March 2007. He was named division president, Energy Services in 2011 and promoted to senior vice president and division president, Gas Distribution Operations in September 2012. He was promoted to his current position as executive vice president and president, Gas Division, in February 2014. Joe began his career in 1975 with the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche in their Miami, Florida office.
Education and Accreditation: Joe graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1975. He is a certified public accountant. Joe also completed Executive Management courses at Texas A&M University and Baylor University.
Affiliations and Honors: Joe is a former co-chairman of the Executive Advisory Committee of the Economic and Public Policy/Strategic Planning Committee of the Edison Electric Institute. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Gas Association. He served on the boards of Empresa De Energia Del Pacifico S.A.E.S.P. and Electrocosta/Electricaribe in the Republic of Columbia. Joe received scholar-athlete recognition while at the University of Miami.
Personal: Joe is a native of Elmhurst, Illinois. He and his wife, Judy, have been active in various religious and youth sports organizations in the Clear Lake area of Houston. They have been married for 32 years and have four sons, two daughters-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren. Joe enjoys sports, the stock market and spending time with his family.
