MINNEAPOLIS – December 13, 2012 – CenterPoint Energy recently awarded Robbinsdale’s School of Engineering and Arts at Olson Elementary (SEA) and Noble Elementary with certificates and monetary gift cards for helping make holiday cards for recipients of the Metro Meals on Wheels (MOW) program, which aims to help home bound clients receive the nutritious meals and human connection they need to help them live independently.

CenterPoint Energy along with the schools and local volunteers distributed candy and more than 700 specially made holiday cards, as well as, helpful energy assistance information to MOW participants.

“It is important for the School of Engineering and Arts to give back to our community.  Noble Elementary Principal, Jane Byrne and I were thrilled to take part with CenterPoint Energy to help the Meals on Wheels program,” said Kim Hiel, principal of SEA.  “We were further humbled when we received a $250 gift card from CenterPoint Energy that will be used to purchase science supplies for our school.  What an impressive effort - school community helping business community and in turn helping the community at large.  It doesn't get better than this during the holiday season!”

Jill Kaufman, Volunteers In Partnership (VIP) Coordinator for Robbinsdale area schools added, "It has been gratifying to see the partnership with CenterPoint Energy grow and develop in extraordinary ways. Our program, and certainly Robbinsdale Area Schools, have benefited from CenterPoint Energy's generous volunteer and financial contributions. Everyone we work with at CenterPoint Energy has been so supportive and a pleasure to know."  CenterPoint Energy has been a supportive corporate partner in providing volunteers to the Robbinsdale school district through its VIP program for a number of years.
