CenterPoint Energy ranks highest in J.D. Power 2012 Gas Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study
Company tied for top ranking among 22 Midwest Region natural gas utilities

MINNEAPOLIS – March 15, 2012 – CenterPoint Energy was awarded the highest ranking among the largest Midwest Region utilities in the 2012 J.D. Power and Associates (J.D. Power) 2012 Gas Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study.

“Our business customers gave us the highest scores for field service and communications about natural gas safety and how to lower energy costs. They also gave us high scores for corporate citizenship,” said Doug Peterson, director of sales and energy efficiency programs for CenterPoint Energy. “By offering affordable service and innovative ways to conserve energy through our Conservation Improvement Programs, our business customers recognize our commitment to being their preferred energy provider, while helping them lower their energy usage and better manage their natural gas bills. “I would like to thank our employees and our businesses customers - small and large- for positioning us as a top-rated Midwest Region utility in overall customer satisfaction,” he added.

The J.D. Power study is a comprehensive evaluation of customers’ attitudes in six different performance categories: billing and payment, corporate citizenship, price, communications, customer service and field service. CenterPoint Energy’s overall customer satisfaction index score was 32 points above the Midwest Region large segment average and 48 points above its score from last year.

CenterPoint Energy also earned the first place ranking in the 2011 J.D. Power Residential customer satisfaction survey for Midwest Region gas utilities.
