Visit natural gas educational website during American Education Week

MINNEAPOLIS – November 14, 2013 – In honor of American Education Week-Nov. 18-22- CenterPoint Energy is reminding everyone to take advantage of Energy Underground, an informational website where the public can go to learn more about natural gas.
 “CenterPoint Energy understands that the quality of our future workforce and the economic vitality of our communities are closely linked to education so we actively seek partnerships with educators to improve our schools and educational opportunities for students,” said Jean Krause, director of Corporate Community Relations. “Through Energy Underground, students can learn how to use natural gas safely, discover ways to conserve energy, and find out about exciting career opportunities in the energy industry.”
The natural gas safety education section of the site features age-appropriate resources for all students, kindergarten through twelfth grade. The site also provides lesson plans, resources and educational links for teachers.

American Education Week has been celebrated annually since 1921 and this year, occurs from November 18 through 22.  The week is co-sponsored by the National Education Association and was created to heighten awareness about the importance of providing every child in America with a high-quality public education.
