Commissioners Erhart and Kordiak, along with other elected officials and city and county staff helped commemorate the planting of 50 trees and 35 shrubs by more than 20 CenterPoint Energy volunteers at Anoka County Riverfront Regional Park in Fridley.
MINNEAPOLIS – October 5, 2012 –CenterPoint Energy employees partnered with Great River Greening to restore and revitalize Riverfront Regional Park following a natural gas pipeline replacement project that took place recently in the park area. Supported by Anoka County Parks Board and Anoka County Transportation Department, 20 CenterPoint Energy volunteers and Great River Greening, planted 50 trees and 35 shrubs, mulched and weeded to complete the park restoration.
“We are proud of our long standing relationships in the Fridley community and thank our city and county officials for making this project a success,” said Roger Brandel, area manager for CenterPoint Energy. “We are pleased that Riverfront Regional Park has a new and beautiful outdoor landscape for everyone to enjoy while improving our communities’ natural environment. Volunteering our time to enhance the park has been very rewarding.”
The Riverfront Regional Park contains 139-acres and is one of the many open greenspaces along the Mississippi River.
