Bucket list: send a holiday greeting to a hero
Join CenterPoint Energy and the American Red Cross at Mall of America to sign a card for military

MINNEAPOLIS – November 7, 2013 – Join CenterPoint Energy and the American Red Cross this Sunday, Nov. 10, to send a heartwarming holiday greeting to our heroes and help make this holiday season one to remember for active military, their families and veterans.  The Holiday Mail for Heroes card signing event will take place at Mall of America in the Nordstrom Court between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

“We are inviting the public to join CenterPoint Energy in bringing cheer this holiday season to our heroes and their families,” said Joe Vortherms, vice president of Gas Operations in Minnesota and American Red Cross board member.  “I view this as an opportunity for us to do something meaningful by sharing a personal message of gratitude with the men and women who fearlessly serve our country.”

“While it may not seem like much, a hand-written note to a service member spending time away from his or her family makes a world of difference,” says Phil Hansen, Regional Chapter Executive for the American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region.

About Holiday Mail for Heroes
Red Cross volunteers across the United States and on military installations overseas sort and deliver the cards throughout the holiday season. The Red Cross has received and distributed more than 6.5 million cards for members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and their families since the program began in 2006.  To ensure that cards are delivered in time for the holidays, they must be postmarked no later than December 6. More information and card requirements can be found at RedCross.org/HolidayMail.
