CenterPoint Energy partners with local students to support Tree Trust
Volunteer efforts help improve environment

Tree TrustMINNEAPOLIS - September 29, 2010 - CenterPoint Energy employees supported Tree Trust by helping Meadowbrook Elementary School students improve their natural environment. Together, 17 CenterPoint Energy volunteers and 620 students planted 25 trees and shrubs, and 100 bulbs, mulched several gardens, weeded and removed buckthorn.

“We are proud of our long standing relationship with Tree Trust,” said Doug Peterson, director of Marketing & Sales for CenterPoint Energy and Tree Trust board member. “We are pleased that Meadowbrook Elementary has a new and beautiful outdoor landscape for students and teachers to enjoy while improving our communities’ natural environment. Teaching young students how to plant trees and care for the environment is important as they grow to become future leaders.”

Tree Trust is a Minnesota non-profit organization founded in 1976, whose mission is to improve the community environment by investing in people. Tree Trust operates employment training programs that help disadvantaged youth and adults reshape their lives, environmental education programs that turn students into informed environmental advocates and community forestry programs that empower people to take an active role in improving the local environment.
