MINNEAPOLIS - April 29, 2010 - CenterPoint Energy recently delivered the Minnesota Twins rebates totaling nearly $42,000 for the installation of high-efficiency natural gas foodservice equipment including high efficiency ovens, fryers and steamers in the new outdoor ballpark. The foodservice equipment installed qualified for rebates from a prescriptive energy saving program that will save the stadium more than $50,000 annually or 6,570 dekatherms which is equivalent to the annual energy usage of 70 residential homes.
“We’re proud to work with the Minnesota Twins who ensured that energy-saving improvements were incorporated in the new ballpark and took advantage of our Conservation Improvement Program (CIP) rebates,” said Tal Centers, division vice president of regional operations for CenterPoint Energy. “These are some of the largest foodservice equipment incentives we’ve returned to a single customer for the installation of high-efficiency equipment. The variety of offerings from our CIP program demonstrates our commitment to energy efficiency and helping the environment.”
CenterPoint Energy is significantly increasing its energy efficiency programs to help residential and business customers lower their energy costs. Besides foodservice equipment rebates, the company offers businesses incentives for the purchase of high-efficiency heating systems and custom processing equipment. Other services offered for commercial customers include Custom Energy Analysis and Engineering Assistance for energy efficiency projects and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for facilities that meet strict energy efficiency standards.
Since the CIP was introduced in 1992, CenterPoint Energy has assisted customers in conservation efforts that saved approximately 11.6 billion cubic feet of natural gas or about $76 million in energy cost savings. These programs have also benefited the environment by reducing our customers’ total carbon footprint by 622,000 metric tons or enough to remove 89,000 cars from the roadway for one year.
All homeowners, businesses and schools in Minnesota are encouraged to take advantage of CenterPoint Energy’s energy saving programs that can lower energy usage, cut costs and help the environment. Please visit us at CenterPointEnergy.com/rebates.
