MINNEAPOLIS - June 30, 2010 - CenterPoint Energy recently received the Wellness by Design Award from Hennepin County in acknowledgement of the work done by the company’s Safety and Wellness Action Team (SWAT). The Wellness by Design Award was given at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center to more than 100 companies and schools for demonstrating an above average commitment to their employees’ health and wellbeing.

CenterPoint Energy supports and encourages employees’ safety and health through employee benefit packages and enhanced wellness programs like SWAT that is comprised of employees from various work areas to better serve employee’s health and wellbeing. Employees of the company’s wellness team began an educational initiative last year that includes featuring safety and wellness tips in a mailing to employees. In addition to initiatives developed by SWAT, the company also provides health tips, diet and exercise programs and other resources to help employees maintain a healthy lifestyle.
