CenterPoint Energy delivers over $415,000 in conservation rebates to Minneapolis Public Housing Authority
Rebates enable installation of energy efficient natural gas equipment

MPHAMINNEAPOLIS - November 8, 2010 - CenterPoint Energy recently awarded a rebate check for more than $415,000 to the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA). Working with Honeywell, MPHA was able to install high-efficiency natural gas boilers and water heaters in their high-rise buildings. The energy-saving initiative is part of a three-year project to install high efficient equipment in over 40 locations in Minneapolis. There were over 100 high-efficiency boilers and over 60 domestic hot water heaters installed at project completion.

CenterPoint Energy has increased its energy efficiency programs to help residential and business customers lower their energy costs. CenterPoint Energy assists customers in conservation efforts that have saved approximately 10.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas, enough energy to supply 119,000 households for one year and adding up to $70 million in energy cost savings since the introduction of the Conservation Improvement Program in 1992. These programs have also benefited the environment by reducing customers’ total carbon footprint by 572,000 metric tons or enough to remove 82,000 cars from the roadway for one year.
