Meadow Lake Principal Amy O’hern and her students receive a certificate and money for school supplies for helping others this holiday season from CenterPoint Energy retiree and VIP volunteer, Bev Maas.
MINNEAPOLIS – December 19, 2013 – CenterPoint Energy recently awarded Meadow Lake Elementary School with certificates and a monetary gift card for helping make holiday cards for recipients of the Metro Meals on Wheels (MOW) program, which aims to help home bound clients receive the nutritious meals and human connection they need to help them live independently. The holiday cards will be distributed by CenterPoint Energy to MOW clients along with natural gas energy assistance and conservation messages this holiday season.
“At Meadow Lake, we work on following the four B's of Being Respectful, Being Responsible, Belong and Being a Bucket-filler. We were so excited to show how we can support our community through the four B's with the opportunity to work with CenterPoint Energy on food baskets for home bound citizens in the community,” said Amy Ohern, Principal of Meadow Lake Elementary School. “We love to be able to put a smile on someone's face from reading the cards that our students created. We would like to thank CenterPoint Energy for their generous gift card contribution of $250 to Meadow Lake; we will take the gift card and purchase sleds and winter gear.
Suzanne Pierazek, manager of Corporate Community Relations added, “It has been gratifying to create this partnership with Meadow Lake Elementary with a focus on shared goals. We couldn’t be more proud of this talented group of students and staff. ”
