Current Position: Senior Vice President and Group President, CenterPoint Energy Pipelines and Field Services.

Previous Positions: Before joining CenterPoint Energy in December 2008, Harper was  president and CEO of Spectra Energy Partners, LP, a $1.6 billion master limited partnership formed by Spectra Energy. He has spent his entire career in the natural gas pipeline industry beginning as an engineer for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation.  His prior positions include manager of business development and marketing for Texas Eastern, director of LDC Markets and Producer Services, general manager of Texas Eastern and Algonquin Gas Transmission, vice president of East Tennessee Natural Gas and group vice president of energy marketing and management for Duke Energy North America.

Education and Accreditation: Harper received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He is an honors graduate of the University of Houston’s MBA program and has also completed executive development programs at Rice University and Harvard Business School.

Affiliations and Honors: Harper is actively involved in community service, including educational, industry, professional, and arts organizations. He serves as a member of the Dean’s Executive Board at UH Bauer College of Business, the Advisory Board of the UH Global Energy Management Institute, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the National Energy Services Association, and he serves on the board of directors for Theatre Under the Stars.

Personal: A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, Harper is married with a daughter and two sons.
