Current Position: Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In addition to the legal affairs of the company, Rozzell is responsible for CenterPoint Energy’s government affairs, ethics and compliance and internal audit functions.
Previous Positions: Before beginning his career at CenterPoint Energy in 2001, Rozzell was a senior partner and chair of the Energy Department of the Houston office of Baker Botts.
Education and Accreditation: Rozzell received a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1975 and a B.A. from Southern Methodist University in 1971.
Affiliations and Honors: Rozzell is a former president of the Houston Bar Association, past director of the State Bar of Texas and past Chair of the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline. He currently serves as a commissioner on the Equal Access to Justice Commission. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a past Chair and Sustaining Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation, and a past Chair and Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
Texas Lawyer named Rozzell a Texas Super Lawyer each year from 2003-2010, and the Houston Business Journal selected him as Houston’s Outstanding General Counsel (large company category) for 2005. He is listed in Who’s Who in American Law.
Personal: Rozzell was born and raised in Wake Village, Texas, a small town near Texarkana. He is an avid pilot and can often be found during the summer months flying his World War II aircraft in air shows around the country. He is married to the former Karen Brandstrader and has two daughters and two grandsons.
