Houston, TX – June 27, 2016 – CenterPoint Energy recently hosted its 12th annual Charity Saltwater Fishing Tournament at the Doyle Convention Center in Texas City. More than 300 individuals participated in the event, which included a day of fishing, door prizes and dinner provided by Century Concrete.
The event raised $76,000 in donations for Kids Unlimited, Inc, a nonprofit organization benefiting children with cancer, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which raises funds to develop the means to cure and control Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
“It was amazing to see the turnout for the tournament given the adverse weather conditions,” said John Kellum, division vice president of High Voltage Power Delivery for CenterPoint Energy and executive sponsor of the tournament. “We were able to raise much-needed funding for Kids Unlimited, Inc. and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Both of these worthwhile organizations have a deep commitment to their cause and do great work for our communities.”
CenterPoint Energy has raised more than $659,000 for Kids Unlimited, Inc. and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since the tournament was first hosted in 2005.
