MINNEAPOLIS, April 22, 2013 – CenterPoint Energy was recently recognized by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), a nonprofit research group based in Washington, D.C., for three of its energy efficiency programs as part of a national review designed to identify America’s leading energy efficiency programs. The programs designated as “exemplary” were the company’s Custom Rebate Program, its Foodservice Rebate Program, and the Home Energy Squad.
The programs selected for this honor were judged by ACEEE and an expert panel as examples of leading designs and practices, and as models for emulation by other utilities and organizations. “These programs are delivering energy savings that are critical in helping customers reduce their energy costs, plus they make an important environmental contribution by reducing pollution from the use of fossil fuels,” said Dan York, Ph.D., director of ACEEE Utilities Program.
Minnesota currently ranks 9th on ACEEE’s state energy efficiency scorecard, which considers all aspects of state energy efficiency policies. In all, six programs submitted from Minnesota were awarded “exemplary” honors, three of those being CenterPoint Energy’s programs.
“We take pride in providing a strong and balanced energy efficiency portfolio to our customers, and these three programs serve a wide spectrum, including residential, commercial and industrial,” said Todd Berreman, manager of Conservation Improvement Program implementation. “Receiving exemplary status across all three market segments is a great accomplishment and reaffirms that we provide excellent programs to all of our customers.”
