MINNEAPOLIS - March 17, 2011 - CenterPoint Energy is responding to a natural gas line fire that started this morning at the intersections of 60th and Nicollet. Emergency responders have shut down Highway 62, east and west, as well as I-35 W as a precaution so the public will need to find alternate routes.
CenterPoint Energy has well-trained, experienced crews on site who are working with local emergency officials to secure the area. The cause of the fire is not known at this time and the company will conduct an investigation to determine the cause. The company's focus at this time is making the area safe.
